High School Writing Teacher

Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning - Kitsilano is looking for an upbeat and dynamic Writing Specialist teacher who has experience teaching High School Essay writing and Literature and wants to work in a rewarding teaching environment.

Our teachers can expect a steady income teaching the subjects they love! Our individualized programs offer support for students looking to improve their writing skills in English. Our class sizes are small, with a maximum of three students per teacher. We provide all of the curriculum and rely on our teachers to interpret, explain, and guide our students to understanding and connecting with the material. All instruction is done at our centre so there is no need to spend your valuable time travelling to each student's home.

Position Requirements

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (Mon-Fri 3:30pm - 7:00pm) as well as occasional Saturdays (10:00am - 1:00pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. No relocation package is offered. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education :

  • University degree / Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • BC Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grade 7 to Grade 12 curriculum

Experience :

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Grade 7 to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Superb written and oral communication skills in fluent, native English
  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons to promote student participation and understanding

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels

  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times

**Analyst II, Regulatory Medical Writing X-TA**

As Analyst II, Regulatory Medical Writing X-TA, you will support across one or more of our therapeutic areas (Oncology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Cardiopulmonary, Specialty Ophthalmology) within our Regulatory Medical Writing team, to author diverse regulatory medical writing documents. Hybrid (3 days onsite per week) is preferred. _Remote work options may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the Company._

**Purpose:**
+ Develop within the medical writing role within the pharmaceutical industry.
+ Work in a team environment and matrix.
+ Gain knowledge and apply internal standards, regulatory, and publishing guidelines.
+ Learn and use internal systems, tools, and processes.
+ Write and coordinate basic documents and help to prepare more complex documents.
+ Perform routine tasks per established procedures.
**You will be responsible for:**
+ Write and coordinate clinical documents such as protocols, clinical study reports, tables of studies, narratives, and investigator's brochures with oversight.
+ Perform document QC, literature searches, and other tasks.
+ Work in a matrix environment and gain an understanding of the medical writing responsibilities on project teams.
+ Partner with experienced colleagues on document planning, timelines, and content development according to internal processes.
+ Participate in or lead cross-functional document planning and review meetings independently or with oversight.
+ May participate in initiatives to improve medical writing processes and standards.
+ Acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of industry, company, and regulatory guidelines.
+ Regularly meet with manager and mentors and attend departmental meetings.
**Qualifications / Requirements:**
+ A university/college degree in a scientific discipline is the minimum requirement, with an advanced degree (eg, Master's degree, PhD, MD) preferred.
+ At least 2 years of relevant pharmaceutical/scientific experience is required.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
+ Ability to understand, interpret, and summarize scientific or medical data.
+ Ability to function in a team environment and to build solid and positive relationships with cross-functional team members.
+ Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
+ Strong attention to detail.
+ Strong time management and project/process management skills.
+ Demonstrated learning agility.
+ Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (eg, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
