As a Mental Health Counsellor, you will have the unique opportunity to provide effective and comprehensive assessments, counselling, and case management to community members of Whitefish River First Nation (WRFN) who are living with mental health and/or substance use issues. This role, which is part of an interdisciplinary care team, also involves collaborating with internal and external service providers, making it a dynamic and rewarding position.
Responsibilities:
- As a Mental Health Counsellor, you will play a crucial role in providing direct counselling to Whitefish River First Nation (WRFN) members. Your assessments, treatments, referrals, and follow-ups, which primarily focus on individuals, families, or groups, will be instrumental in addressing mental health and substance use issues in the community.
- Provide counselling that often relates to crisis, trauma, suicide, domestic violence, sexual, physical, or emotional abuse.
- Provide or facilitate the provision of services through a culturally based framework
- Complete screening and comprehensive assessments for issues related to mental health, substance, and behavioural addictions; Develop wholistic, client-centered, individualized treatment plans.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on improved health and wellness using evidence-informed therapeutic techniques, and coordinate access and referrals to local community resources.
Qualifications:
- Master's level education and professional membership are an asset (MSW, RSW preferred) or related education at a masters level, such as counseling or psychology, combined with at least 3 years direct experience.
- Post-graduate Addictions degree, diploma, or equivalent experience would be an asset.
- Knowledge of Indigenous Traditional Teachings, Culture, including intergenerational trauma.
- 3-5 years of experience working with the Indigenous community using a wholistic model to incorporate traditional beliefs, values, and culture-based practices into the therapeutic work to promote wellness and healing.
- 3-5 years of experience working with mental health, including providing trauma-informed care.
- 3-5 years of experience and/or education in working with substance and/or behavioural addictions, including: concurrent disorders, stages of change, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and relapse prevention.
- Knowledge of and ability to use structured screening, assessment, and treatment tools.
- Experience in the delivery of both individual and group counseling using evidence-informed approaches
Skills:
- Strong understanding of colonization and its impacts on Anishinaabe communities (Intergenerational Trauma resulting from IRS, Day Schools, 60s Scoop, child welfare, etc.).
- Ability to make connections with community members; Ability to work and handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Responding to after-hours emergencies as required; Overtime, evening, and weekends as may be required from time to time.
Must provide a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Responsible for inputting case notes to the EMR Database
Responsible for reporting pertinent clinical information to the Clinical Director and pertinent program information to the Director of Operations

Qualifications:
Entry level position (training provided), with preference given to a diploma in social service work, or related field with mental health and addictions training; or combination of education and relevant work experience.
Preference given to an Individual of Anishinaabe ancestry with Knowledge and understanding of Anishinabek history, clan systems, protocols, etiquette, culture, traditions, and ceremonies
Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects
Able to participate in outdoor and athletic programming
Mature individual who can work independently with preference given to individuals living a traditional lifestyle and being on a life-long journey in traditional knowledge
Requirements:
Possesses a valid Ontario class G drivers license in good standing with access to a reliable vehicle, able to obtain an F class Drivers license within 6 months of employment, with preference given to those who already hold a class F drivers license
Ability to work outside normal business hours as required

The Housing Maintenance Coordinator plays a crucial role in providing administrative and coordination support for the renovations of Whitefish River First Nation (WRFN) rental units. This position coordinates resources and third parties/vendors for project execution, including tracking and analyzing project performance, expenditures, procurement, and reporting. The Housing Maintenance Coordinator is also responsible for overseeing renovation projects, repairs, and maintenance, as well as the overall operation of WRFN rental homes and properties.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, coordinate, and monitor daily minor and major maintenance and renovation services to all WRFN band rental units under the Housing Department.
- Performing general inspections in rental homes and engaging with tenants to determine renovation needs and requests.
- Collaborating and communicating with the Housing Navigator is a key aspect of this role, ensuring tenants well-being is at the forefront of our operations.
- Assist with budgets for each unit or project and report on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis.
- Assist with maintenance planning for all equipment and vehicles.
- Troubleshoot and report any issues with electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC) in the rental units, including necessary equipment repairs (For a complete job description, please email ).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 or GED is required. A post-secondary diploma in Project Management, Business Administration, Construction/House Inspection, or other related programs is an asset. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience will also be considered, providing a pathway for career growth and development.
- Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in general maintenance, carpentry, and knowledge of the mechanical operation of housing unit equipment/systems preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of building and operating systems, construction, installation, maintenance, and repair practices.
- Experience in Project Management is required; Experience supervising crews is an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of Workplace Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
- Knowledge of applicable construction codes (ONT Building, ON Plumbing, Canadian Electrical).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). MS Project (project management software) is preferred.
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and techniques; Ability to read blueprints.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Motivated and physically fit to perform this type of work, and the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must train new employees and work flexible hours; maintain on-call schedule.
- Excellent problem-solving, multi-tasking, and collaborative skills.

Job DescriptionAs a DZ Fuel Driver for New North Fuels, a Marketer for Suncor (Petro-Canada) in Northern Ontario, your responsibilities will include:
- Safely operate and maintain a fuel delivery truck, ensuring compliance with all regulations and company policies.
- Perform fuel deliveries to various customer locations, including gas stations, businesses, and residential areas.
- Accurately measure and record fuel quantities delivered to each customer.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is in proper working condition.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, fuel deliveries, and vehicle maintenance.
- Assist in loading and unloading fuel at terminals and customer sites.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous materials under safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and unscheduled deliveries as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, including proper storage of equipment and supplies.
- Participate in ongoing safety training and stay updated on industry best practices.
- Report any safety concerns, vehicle issues, or customer complaints to management.
- Assist in route planning and optimization to ensure efficient fuel deliveries.
- Collect payments and process transactions when required.
- Represent New North Fuels and Suncor (Petro-Canada) professionally at all times.
- Must possess a valid DZ license.
- Must Be Able To Drive a Manual Transmission
- Must provide a recent driver abstract and CVOR reports.
- Minimum of 2 years of driving experience, preferably in fuel delivery or similar industry.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification required.
- Knowledge of fuel handling procedures and safety protocols.
- Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
