The Biidaaban Healing Lodge is a 12-unit residential treatment programlocated on the Biigtigong Nishnaabeg formerly Pic River First Nation, which is approximately 25 kilometers from Marathon, ON. We are mandated to provide quality treatment to all Indigenous and Metis people residing in the Robinson Superior Treaty area. We provide treatment for unresolved trauma stemming from sexual abuse, family violence, adult children of trauma, grief and abandonment and anger solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Working as a team member within the Healing Lodge and in conjunction with the First Nation communities in the area and under the direction of the Executive Coordinator, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for:

Repair and Maintenance of the building, grounds and equipment

Maintain Ultraviolet Water Maintenance system

Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.

Performing preventative maintenance.

Preform minor carpentry, plumbing, painting and maintenance work

Scheduling and coordinating repairs and maintenance with contracted individuals

Diagnosing and reporting building and repair issues

Qualifications:


A college or university degree in Maintenance related field (Combinations of education and work experience will be considered.)


A valid G class License

Previous experience in a Maintenance related position

Experience with or certification with Ultraviolet water systems would be an asset.


Experience working with First Nations individuals, families and communities, and a working knowledge of healing and recovery from a Native perspective.


Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong communication skills, a working knowledge of computer programs such as word, excel, outlook.

Prime Worker – Thunder Bay District (Marathon, Nipigon, Geraldton)

Casual Employment Opportunity:

  • Pay Rate: $20.00/hr - $4.50/hr
  • Mileage Reimbursement Rate: 0.56/km


This position is intended to augment and/or support the services primarily provided by the Case Managers to children/youth and families, on a casual contract basis. Prime Worker names are put on a list which is accessed based on best fit and availability for the support needs. A written work plan is completed, outlining the duties, expectations of the Prime Worker specific to the assignment. Each child/youth/family case requires its own work plan. This position is intended to be a casual, part-time position. There is no guarantee of hours. Prime Workers may accept up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. It is the Prime Worker’s responsibility to track their hours worked, as they could be working with several different children/youth and/or families at the same time.

About Us Are you seeking exceptional experience working to improve mental health and social well-being in rural communities utilizing a generalist approach? Look no further than North of Superior Counselling Programs (NOSP)! At NOSP, we are a non-profit multi-service agency dedicated to working together to optimize health and well-being throughout the lifespan. We strive to provide equitable, accessible, and client-driven services that make a real difference in the District of Thunder Bay. Our services include on-site individual and group-based counselling and/or case management for mental health and addictions, school-based counselling, parental support, and access to specialized services like assessment and referrals for live-in treatment programs. But that's not all! We also provide supportive roles in formal on-site and virtual psychiatry and psychology diagnosis and assessments. Plus, we offer housing case management with rental supplement support programs. Through our incredibly dedicated volunteers, we provide enrichment and social engagement (EASE) to Adults (18 plus) with a physical disability or older adults (55 plus). At NOSP, we believe in a generalist approach to care. We aim to collaborate with other service providers to deliver responsive wrap-around, whole-health care through person-centric goal planning.
