Position Overview

ACSI is seeking Electrician Journeypersons who will be integral to our projects success, responsible for providing support and in-depth knowledge in the field relating to electrical matters, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications to lay out work. Your expertise will support a range of activities which are critical to integrity of the electrical systems of the project.
Key Responsibilities
Installing cable tray and conduit and terminating cable. Locating and installing equipment, panels, sensors and other control components and devices.
Fabricate control panels, wiring check-out.
Responsible for laying out circuits, set up breaker panels and junction boxes, and install light fixtures and other electrical equipment.
Ensure all electrical installations follow applicable regulations and trade practices.
Install, alter, repair and maintain a wide range of electrical equipment for safe, efficient and environmentally sound operation.
Pull wire through conduits and cables through tray systems.
Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations.
Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits.
Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment.
Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.
Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, and if need be, replacing or repair following proper installation guidelines.
Journeyperson will mentor apprentices respectfully and oversee their safety.
Requirements and Experience
Valid Provincial Journeyperson Ticket
WHMIS 2015 certificate
Experience as an Electrician in an industrial construction environment.
Proven ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
Must have a strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and policies.

The successful candidate will work across the full engineering V-model and contribute to the design, integration, and testing of data acquisition systems, cockpit avionics, and mission-critical electrical subsystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of aircraft electrical systems from concept to production
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation: I/O definitions, schematics, interface control documents (ICDs), wiring diagrams
- Design and review custom PCB layouts and avionics harnessing
- Oversee component selection, BOM management, and procurement coordination
- Plan and conduct bench-level and on-aircraft testing, including functional verification, continuity checks, and system validation
- Collaborate with avionics, flight test, and systems teams for seamless integration into flight platforms
- Provide technical support during installation, troubleshooting, and acceptance testing phases
Preferred Experience
- Solid understanding of aircraft electrical systems, power distribution, and signal integrity

- Experience with LRU integration, signal routing, grounding/shielding practices, and EMI/EMC considerations

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design of low and medium voltage power systems and acts as the primary technical interface for the equipment they are assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Create bill of material and drawing packages for manufacture for equipment of moderate complexity.
· Independently performs design, troubleshooting and commissioning job functions as needed to support IEM equipment.
· Support production during the equipment manufacturing phase and testing by answering any technical inquiries.
· Work with mechanical designers to layout out and create front views/plan views of switchgear and switchboards.
· Select components and create detailed bills of materials for our products
· Write sequence of operation documents to define automatic system functionality.
· Work with test and field service teams to verify system operation to the design and written sequence of operations.
· Collaborate with other IEM teams to support equipment demonstrations in the factory, providing hands-on technical expertise and guidance to ensure successful execution of the factory witness test.
· Perform design job functions as needed to support IEM’s products and to achieve customer goals
· Independently support sales and the project management team in answering customer questions as it relates to the design.
· Complete short field assignments where troubleshooting, design consultation, customer meetings, or engineering support is required (generally less than 5 days at a time and not to exceed 15% of total time)
COMPETENCIES:
· Understanding of electrical engineering principles and applications as they apply to the power industry, including codes, standards, and design practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement the design concept through the preparation of electrical detailed design, production drawings and schematics for industrial, commercial, and/or institutional buildings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Design and prepare layouts and specification for lighting, electrical distribution (single line diagrams), emergency power distribution, fire alarm, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, cable, and panel schedules.
- Engage in meetings with clients, contractors, and other consultants regarding project reports and findings.
- Provide expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems.
- Ensure ASHRAE and LEED compliance where applicable.
- Create technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
- Create specifications and equipment selection.
- Review shop drawings to confirm they adhere to project requirements.
- Consistently follow company policies, procedures, and file structures/formatting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Post-secondary Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is an asset.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is required.
- 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering for industrial, commercial, and/or institutional buildings.
- Work experience designing HV substations, fire alarms, lighting, emergency power generation, MV and LV distribution systems, and large electrical systems.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as the Canadian Electrical Code, National Building Code of Canada (NBC(AE)), etc.
- Ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure on various tasks.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

What You'll Be Doing:
Design and develop electrical systems for building projects, including schematic layouts and wiring diagrams.
Produce and review detailed technical drawings using CAD tools.
Collaborate with internal teams across architectural, mechanical, and structural disciplines.
Ensure designs meet applicable electrical codes, standards, and client expectations.

What You Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario (PEO).

Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and industry best practices.
