Financial Reporting Manager
Our client is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to join their team. This multifaceted role offers exposure to real estate, industrial operations, and diversified investments. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial acumen, leadership in full-cycle accounting, and the ability to manage complex reporting requirements across multiple entities.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Review and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual property financial statements prepared by property managers.
- Ensure accuracy of rent rolls, recoveries, capital expenditures, and leasing costs.
- Work closely with asset managers and property managers to provide financial insight and variance analysis.
- Serve as the junior controller for a growing industrial business which would include managing all aspects of full-cycle accounting: month-end close, bank reconciliations, accruals, payables, receivables, and payroll oversight.
- Collaborate with operational leadership to provide financial reporting, analysis, and insights to support decision-making.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements and investment reporting packages for holding companies and investment entities.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors.
- Maintain intercompany accounting records and capital structures.
- Support cash flow planning, treasury management, and ad hoc analysis.
- CPA designation is mandatory.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance; public accounting foundation required (ideally audit or assurance).
- Strong understanding of ASPE and investment accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with accounting software and cloud-based systems is an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to see the big picture.
- Self-starter with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Not afraid to speak up, ask tough questions, and push for better outcomes.

Finance Manager
Our client is searching for a Finance Manager to join their team. This role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial operations within the division, ensuring that accounting practices, reporting, and team leadership align with business goals and compliance standards. A successful candidate will bring expertise in financial analysis, job costing, and team management, while driving process improvements and supporting strategic decision-making.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including job setup, maintenance, and closeout
- Review and approve job budgets, rate tables, change orders, and closeout documentation
- Lead month-end processes, including adjustments, accruals, and revenue recognition
- Analyze indirect costs, SG&A accounts, and income statement variances
- Coordinate billing processes, including unit rate applications, milestone billing, and force account submissions
- Support project teams with ad hoc reporting, cost tracking, and client deliverables
- Manage payroll data capture and customer billing workflows
- Monitor and manage Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) to meet divisional targets
- Assist with bids, RFIs, RFPs, and capital expenditure requests

- Prepare executive-level financial reports, P&Ls, and income statements for all business lines

- Drive process improvement initiatives and support system enhancements
- Ensure financial systems are optimized for accurate data capture and reporting
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, preferably in industrial contracting
- 2+ years of supervisory experience with a proven ability to lead and develop teams
- Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) preferred
- Strong understanding of job costing, financial analysis, and reporting
- Experience with sales agreements, contracts, and billing structures
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software (CMiC preferred)
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities

**District Overview**
Kiewit Energy Canada is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. We are a major industrial contractor that work on projects that involve construction of oil & gas facilities such as oil sands processing, including steam-assisted gravity drainage facilities, upgrading & refining, midstream facilities, power & co-generation, terminal projects (ex. LNG, LPG, etc.), and major mine developments. We also have a Modular Yard facility in Edmonton, Alberta. **Responsibilities**
+ Analyze and effectively communicate financial results of projects to management.

+ Develop and maintain budget and cost reports and earned value analyses.
+ Assist in the tracking of project change orders and development of projections.

You will work directly with the clients to assist them in meeting their financial reporting requirements, which may include assisting with closing procedures, accounting systems planning, IFRS or US GAAP standards accounting policy research, MD&A preparation, and financial statement preparation. Being a part of the client side is a rewarding experience all while getting to maintain the dynamic nature of working on different client files.
You will feel a ton of ownership over the files you work on. Filing deadlines are a regular occurrence, so being proactive will be a must to be successful in our environment. Overtime is only on a rare occasion. If you are fed up with the 70-hour work weeks during busy season, this will be a great role to transition out of the long hours of public practice. Unless you can clearly demonstrate strong knowledge in the area of financial reporting, one of the following experiences is a requirement for the role: you have led audit files as part of the pubco group at a small to midsize public accounting firm, or you've held a in financial reporting role within a public issuer.
What will your days look like
- Preparing financial statements and the management discussion and analysis for quarterly and year end filings for various clients;
- Completing consolidation and translation files;
- Assisting clients with financial analysis, preparing financial analysis of various balance sheet and income statement accounts;
- Monthly variance analysis of corporate costs compared with quarterly forecasts and the annual business plan;
- Assisting with the annual budget and quarterly forecast process for clients;
- Bookkeeping on special projects for clients and for some clients regular period ending closing entries;
- Assisting with year-end audit planning and liaising with the auditors on behalf clients;
- Assist with continuous disclosure requirements; Common complex accounting issues include accounting for acquisitions, stock based compensation, translations and consolidations
