Maintenance Coordinator

The Maintenance Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Projects and works closely with the Employee Housing Manager to ensure all staff housing units are in tip-top shape inside and out for our amazing team members who live there. This is a dynamic role that would include emergency maintenance, preventative maintenance, and small to medium capital project support of small single-family homes as well as apartment buildings. In any given day after talking about the sweet hike you did on the weekend, but before going for lunch with your manager you could be: drywalling and painting, fixing a clog or leak, changing a lock or light fixture, moving furniture or trouble shooting appliances.

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all building mechanical systems (i.e., pumps, life safety systems, HVAC, and other systems depending on the specific property)
  • Perform regular interior and exterior site inspections
  • Verify that all maintenance records, files, and documentation are maintained accurately and timely and in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure completion of maintenance repairs on a timely basis, including inside units, common spaces, mechanical rooms and the exterior of the properties
  • Ensure resident satisfaction and safety following priority guidelines
  • Complete regular landscaping as needed and ensure all exterior areas, including roadway and walkways, are free of dirt, debris, ice, and snow
  • Maintain spare furniture and appliance inventory and move furniture and appliances between units to ensure optimum capacities are achieved
  • Ensure completion of general maintenance in parking garages/lots, mechanical rooms, on rooftops, and in other common areas
  • Completion of minor suite renovations or upgrade work, including painting and general carpentry
  • Accompany all vendors and contractors in resident suites at all times and ensure everyone is complying with OH&S protocols
  • Ensure all tools and cleaning equipment are maintained and serviced regularly
  • Maintain up-to-date MSDS worksheets for maintenance products and adhere to the OH&S rules and regulations
  • Assist with on-site management of capital projects, execution of the capital plan, and identifying issues for current or future repair
  • Emergency response and on-call duty, as required, as well as complying with regular fire and life safety standards, including testing and annual drills
  • Acting as a BHC brand ambassador towards our co-workers, vendors and contractors, and the public
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Affordable manager housing may be available

What You Have:

  • Three years of progressive experience in all areas of building operations, including mechanical, fire and safety, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • High school diploma supplemented with post-secondary courses or certification
  • WHMIS and First Aid Training an asset
  • Strong communication skills; ability to communicate with co-workers and management effectively and professionally, both oral and written
  • Superior ability to foster and develop cooperating working relationships with staff, and contractors
  • Previous experience leading teams preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and knowledge in work identification and prioritization, planning, and scheduling
  • Familiarity with smart phone and tablet technology
  • Must be able to lift 25 kilograms
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle at all times during employment

What You’ll Do

Accounts Payable (AP):

  • Enter vendor invoices (food, beverage, supplies, contractors) into the accounting system.
  • Prepare weekly payment runs (EFTs and checks) for approval.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor information.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoices and payments.

Accounts Receivable (AR):

  • Prepare system invoices for group bookings and other client services.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client information.
  • Track outstanding client balances and send payment reminders.
  • Support managers in resolving billing questions.

General Ledger (GL) Support:

  • Assist with monthly reconciliations as assigned.
  • Provide supporting documentation for financial reporting and audits.

Administration & Support:

  • Maintain organized digital filing of invoices, receipts, and other accounting records.
  • Support the finance team with ad hoc tasks and projects as assigned.

What You Bring

  • 1+ year of general accounting experience (hospitality experience is a plus!)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Solid organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel in particular) and accounting software (experience with R365 or similar ERP systems is an asset)
  • A friendly, professional communication style — you’ll be working with both vendors and our internal teams
  • Ability to work independently while being an active, supportive team player

Corporate Chef
Reporting to the Director of Culinary Operations, the Corporate Chef plays a key leadership role in overseeing and supporting an assigned team of Chefs and their respective Back of House teams. This is a highly hands-on position, with over 80% of your time spent in the kitchen - training, mentoring, and fine-tuning culinary execution across your venues.

What You’ll Do:

  • You’re a true foodie who constantly monitors food quality, presentation, and overall execution of all menu items. You provide proactive, hands-on training to both hourly and salaried kitchen staff to uphold culinary excellence
  • You lead by example and coach People Leaders to ensure their leadership aligns with department standards and that the employee experience remains consistent across all venues
  • You regularly assess team culture using employee feedback, turnover data, and team dynamics to ensure alignment with BHC values
  • With a strong sense of fiscal responsibility, you drive venue efficiency by ensuring all culinary managers are confident in inventory management practices—covering prep cycles, portioning, yields, inventory counts, P&Ls, and month-end processes
  • You oversee adherence to company standards and service levels, actively working to maximize sales and control costs, including food and labor
  • In collaboration with the People Operations team, you help attract, recruit, and hire individuals who support and enhance the BHC culture. You recognize the vital role that proper onboarding and training play in long-term success
  • You ensure compliance with all health and safety standards, maintaining strict adherence to food handling, sanitation, cleanliness, and maintenance protocols in line with company policies and federal/provincial/local regulations
  • Working closely with the Culinary Development team, you implement changes to the menu—adding, removing, or adjusting items as needed
  • You step into the Head Chef role when needed, providing leadership coverage during vacancies or leaves of absence
  • Ultimately, you play a critical role in the success of the culinary program and contribute meaningfully to the overall performance of the organization

What You Have:

  • 4 - 6 years of progressive culinary leadership experience
  • Strong computer literacy with proven proficiency in restaurant management systems; advanced knowledge of Optimum Control is an asset
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with a strong background in P&L management
  • A strong entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, drive innovation, and improve operational efficiency
  • Proven ability to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized kitchen environment, in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with exceptional time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
