o Medium-sized facilities, localized close to larger markets, where goods are sorted for delivery (middle-mile). These buildings receive packaged orders and help the last-mile network deliver products on-time more efficiently. Orders are sorted by zip code, region, and size. These buildings operate most similarly to a regional post office or large third-party logistics building.
o Air Sites (Amazon Air Network)? Amazon's dedicated Air network serving middle mile, located near or within major airport hubs. These locations require additional security clearances and background checks, managed by the local port authorities.
- Delivery Stations (Amazon Logistics - AMZL Network)o Smaller facilities with fewer associates, localized close to larger markets, where goods are delivered directly to customers (last mile). About the Program:
- The summer term is full-time (40 hours a week) and lasts 10 weeks during the summer of 2026 (Colleges and Universities where 12 weeks are required for graduation will work directly with a recruiter if extended an offer). Start dates are offered in June.
- As a part of the Workplace Health and Safety Specialist (WHS) internship program, you will learn how to improve the safety and efficiency of our work style processes.
- Onboarding will include OSHA10, First Aid/CPR/AED certification, technical writing and intro to project management training.
PLEASE NOTE: For this role, it is essential to have the flexibility to relocate during the summer, as candidate placements will be prioritized based on business requirements. Job Elements:

Key job responsibilities
- Work with various Workplace Health and Safety Teams and other WHS interns on a safety related project.
- Research, interpret and share data to support a safety related recommendation as part of your final project that will be presented to senior leadership.
- Assist in designing, building, improving, and innovating order fulfillment safety programs, projects, initiatives, and other elements of the Workplaces Health & Safety organization across the three lanes (first mile, middle mile, and last mile) of Amazon's fulfillment infrastructure
- Learn about and work with other functional teams (Operations, RME (Reliability Maintenance & Engineering), Central Teams, Human Resources, Transportation Operations, and others) in the planning and execution of your assigned project.

Basic Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree with an expected completion date between December 2026 and August 2027

- Working towards a degree in Health Science, Safety Engineering, Health & Safety, Safety Management, or related field.
- Interest in or previous experience in safety related employment
- Knowledge of Canadian OHS Provincial Laws

- Implements and maintains all Health & Safety / Environmental policies and procedures as per the OH&S and other relevant Federal, Provincial or internal requirements.
- Champions the H&S, Environmental, Ergonomics Assessment and related Inspections and Audits and resulting Action Plans.
- Champions the HWIN (Waste Manifests, account upkeep with the Ministry etc.), NPRI, TRA, ECA applications / upkeep, including all legal aspects & reporting of all of the same.
- WSIB claims and lost time statistics and timely submission of the WSIB Form 7, applications for SIEF addressing objections and follow-up.
- Make studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
- Inspect or tour organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
- Active member of Magna Safety Group ensuring compliance with WSIB Work well Audit and practices, communication of Best Practices, attends all meetings
- Arranges H&S / Ergonomics Meetings, notifies members, participates as a Joint Health & Safety member, as well as sets up / records meeting minutes / initiates monthly workplace inspections.
- Sets up / ensures completion of Workplace Inspections for all departments.
- Assist in monitoring contracts for employee PPE including uniforms, safety glasses, earplugs etc.
- Arranges / delivers in house Safety / Environment/Ergonomic training.
- Maintains / updates online SDS, providing hard copy for easy access ensuring compliance and accurate purchasing process has been followed
- Demonstrates Continuous Improvement through investigating / recommending Best Practices for all areas of Ergonomics / Safety / Environment in order to put in place once established system decided upon.
- Sets example, enforces, and takes a proactive approach to enforce safe working conditions for all employees.
- Maintains / updates any binders / databases for Safety / Environment / Ergonomics including preparation and submission of reports / Action Plans as per Audit / Inspection requirements.
- Maintains and updates safety / environment training matrix, records requirements / dates of courses and books / notifies employees accordingly.
- Cross-functional training of tasks in Human Resources Department.
Core Competencies:
- Thorough knowledge of application of Federal/Provincial Regulations Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, (OH&SA), Canada Standards Act (CSA), Environmental Standards, Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Workers' Compensation Standards Act as well as any other applicable regulations to meet H&S/Environment Regulations.
- Thorough knowledge of all related reporting obligations for H&S,Enviro, Ergo, WSIB
- Effective time management, organizational and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively transfer knowledge to a diverse group of learners
- Must be able to work independently, source and vet vendors
- Must be able to coach, facilitate and influence a cultural and behavioral change in the workplace
- Demonstrated capacity to work in a team, provide situational leadership
Education Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in related field preferred in order to perform all aspects of tasks. etc.
- Minimum 5 years progressive health & safety experience in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills coupled with expert Excel, Word, Database capabilities
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Industrial Ergonomics, desired
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; customer focused.
- Fluent in English both written and verbal.

- Ensure our company and all of our job sites are in compliance with local and federal regulations.
