Job Summary:

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manger, the H&S Senior Specialist engages directly with all lines of business at Whistler Blackcomb to provide Health & Safety guidance, support and resources to strengthen H&S programs. This role involves working directly with multiple stakeholders to ensure Health & Safety training, incident reviews, auditing and documentation is being conducted and will also work to manage policies and programs that are driven by the company and regulatory agencies such as WorkSafeBC. The role requires strong technical skills combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Responsibilities:

Job Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary degree, diploma or certificate in H&S or related field
  • Experience with safety management systems and injury management practices

  • Experience working independently & as a part of a team with proven time management and organizational skills
  • Experience providing clear and affective feedback to all levels within an organization

  • Support and influence a safety-first culture with support from the Global Field Services Manager and Executives.

  • Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) would be considered a desired asset.

The person responsible for the Health, Safety and Environment department is responsible for implementing and administering health, safety and environment programs for all plants in Canada and ensures that the HSE team works with the organization to promote a safe, healthy work environment that complies with provincial and Sika Group obligations.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes and legislative requirements relating to CNESST, OSHA, CSA and the Environmental Protection Act.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • National Health & Safety Administrator (NHSA), College Diploma in Office Administration or equivalent
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) considered an asset
  • Pursuit of Certificate or Diploma in occupational health & safety or environmental studies, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) considered an asset

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Trade and/or site experience considered an asset

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work independently; proactive, shows initiative to get thing done
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet changing priorities
  • Advanced level computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio and Adobe
