Knowledge and Skills Required
- Class 1 or 2 driver's license, “S” Endorsed held for a minimum three (3) years
- Knowledge of Highway Traffic Act and Emergency Procedures
- Class 2S certified and able to pass the trainer certification with the Ministry of Transportation
- Clean 10-year commercial drivers abstract
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Classroom sessions for new trainees
- Daily assessment of driving skills
- On-the-road evaluations
- Utilize TrackIt for training progress
- Be accessible to drivers with any questions or concerns they may have with Training & Development as well as help to develop skills as a School Bus Driver
- Drive any school route that needs to be covered
Working Conditions
Full-time Trainers work 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

About the Role:
In this role you will be responsible for the care, safety and well-being of multiple children at one time while their parents attend YMCA Programming within the building. You will be required to display an understanding of the healthy development of children in this age group and to clearly communicate with children and their parents in a positive, caring and respectful manner.
Responsibilities:
· Provide age appropriate and engaging care and support for children ages 2 months to 12 years.
· Build positive and respectful relationships with children and families, demonstrating strong communication skills in addressing concerns.
· Work as a member of a team of staff and volunteers to offer quality program experiences for children
· Comply with all safety documentation protocols, ensure all sign-in and out, headcount and ratio procedures are followed.

Qualifications:

This part-time hourly-based position will be delivering the Fall Protection course at our Edmonton Training Centre, as well as other courses potentially including Confined Space Entry and First Aid/CPR courses. The role reports to the Manager, Instructor-Led Training and working hours will be Saturdays (8am-4pm), some Sundays and the occasional weekday, if available.
As a Health & Safety Instructor your key responsibilities are:
- Delivering engaging and informative Fall Protection training to job seekers, the general public and new and current members of the construction industry
- Evaluating participants through practical skills and written evaluation
- Potentially delivering other courses such as Confined Space Entry and First Aid/CPR Training.
- Organizing, filing and submitting digital and hard copy participant records following training
- Participating in team meetings and instructor development workshops
The right candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- 3+ years experience delivering safety training
- Training experience in Fall Protection, ESC-certified courses and/or Red Cross First Aid considered an asset
- Background in construction, oil and gas management and/or occupational health & safety preferred
- Confined Space Entry and Rescue experience considered an asset
- Strong presentation and adult-engagement skills
- Responsible self-starter who can work independently, while also contributing to the instructor team
- Valid Alberta Driver Licence - occasional travel by car for work
