OPPORTUNITY
Fengate is a leading alternative investment manager focused on infrastructure, private equity and real estate strategies. In 2006, Fengate established its first infrastructure fund with a mandate to invest in infrastructure investments in Canada. Today, Fengate has invested in over 50 assets across the energy transition, digital, social and transportation infrastructure sectors in the United States and Canada.
As part of their strategy to grow the infrastructure investment platform, Fengate is seeking to hire an Analyst to join their investment team in Toronto to expand their investment capabilities. Additionally, there is an opportunity to work with data center / AI portfolio companies for a secondment period of 12-18 months, resulting in either an opportunity to continue with one of the portfolio companies or upon completion of the secondment, move to Fengate Asset Management’s Investment Teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide a wide range of financial and investment focused analytical support as required, including financial modelling, presentations, investment memos and diligence
- Support diligence and analysis of new land, power or data center acquisitions
- Participate in internal and external meetings as part of the team
- Support capital markets initiatives, including equity and debt funding for portfolio companies
- Support management team in quarterly board meeting preparation and analysis
- Support sourcing, bidding and closing investments and financings
- Support managing development partnerships and platforms
- Support diligence of new and management of existing development partnerships/platforms for non digital infrastructure investments (including energy, social and transportation investments)
Requirements
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in financial modeling, Excel and other statistical packages
- 1+ years of cumulative work experience for a financial institution, data center company, energy company or other relevant background
- Strong understanding of project risk (development, construction and operation) and project documentation
- Strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize in a demanding, high paced environment
- Ability to formally articulate and present data as requested

**The Role**
This role will be an integral member of the Portfolio Management Group (PMG) supporting the Senior Portfolio Strategist in performing strategic asset reviews and maintaining WTW modeling tools.
Your primary focus will be on our OCIO clients, for whom you will design strategic asset allocation and de-risking strategies to meet client objectives. This will involve a particular emphasis on Liability-Driven Investments (LDI), using asset liability modelling. Additionally, you will support our advisory business by preparing strategic asset allocation and investment management structure recommendations.
You will liaise closely with clients, fund managers, actuaries, and other investment colleagues, taking responsibility for managing and delivering investment strategy assignments, supported by other consultants and investment analysts as appropriate. You will also build customized portfolio simulations and asset allocation models and support the training and career development of junior team members.

+ Collaborate as a key member of Portfolio Management Group, working with colleagues specializing in portfolio management, operations, client service, and actuarial consulting
+ Ensure the progress against established objectives, timeline, budgets, deliverables, and quality standards
+ Engage with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that reflect the client's broader business issues

+ Contribute to the development and deployment of first-class solutions in relation to the design, implementation and monitoring of investment strategies based on the Total Portfolio Approach and liability driven investing techniques, including the use of derivative instruments
+ Conduct technical review of work performed by junior team members
+ Participate in special projects as needed
+ Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches
**Financial**
+ Manage quality of processes and deliverables in an efficient manner
+ Support the generation of new business as part of the broader team
**People**
+ Serve as mentor to junior team members who don't have an actuarial background
+ Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients and colleagues at all levels
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of being present in the office at least two days each week.
**Qualifications**
**The Requirements**
**Actuarial**
+ Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science with ASA or FSA designation
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pension actuarial consulting industry
+ Knowledge and experience in defined benefit pension plan funding and accounting in Canada
**Investment**
+ Good overall knowledge and understanding of investment industry and financial markets
+ CIM/CFA designation or have started the exam process is considered an asset
**Other**
+ Experience managing multiple projects and producing high-quality deliverables on time
+ Enquiring and analytically minded with a logical and thorough work ethic
+ Bilingual (English and French) is considered an asset
