**Objective & Overview**
Amrize, Canada's leading supplier of construction materials has an opportunity for a Quality Control Technician for our Dundas Quarry.
**Responsibilities**
Safety:
+ Implementation of Amrize Safety Policies, and Compliance with Government Legislation. Safety Induction of Visitors to Quality Lab or site as required.
+ Execution of Job Hazard Analyses for QC Tasks, and implementation of Action Items.
+ Execution and implementation of Lab/QC Safety Improvement Plans.
Aggregate Product Performance:
+ Implement programs and processes to ensure compliance of all products with relevant Codes, Standards, and Specifications.
+ Implement Amrize Quality Program, including sampling, testing, reporting and follow up for all products as determined for each site of responsibility.
+ Record, Monitor and communicate
+ Aggregate KPI performance with key stakeholders as required - investigate variances from Plan and establish corrective actions as required.
+ Participate in or lead the development and implementation of site specific actions to reduce and/or utilize long products, including innovating new combination materials.
+ Provide input to ensure alignment between Sales and Operational staff to ensure product performance meets customer expectations
Physical attributes:
+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel.
+ The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb stairs & ladders; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear and smell.
+ Infrequently the employee is required to work in awkward situations; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch.
+ The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds.
+ Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
+ Employee must perform work outdoors in all weather conditions, and will work around moving mechanical parts and equipment.
+ Various PPE will include safety boots, reflective clothing, safety glasses, gloves and hard hat. Additional PPE may be required depending upon tasks.

**Qualification Profile**
+ Minimum 2-year College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Environmental Technology University Degree in Engineering.
+ The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction materials (aggregates, asphalt and concrete) industry; should have excellent communication and computer skills, and must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team.

+ Attend and provide responses to daily cell standup meetings.
+ Participate in cell MRB meetings, and required TRB meetings including supporting closure of NCRs and disposition of non-conforming material.
+ Responsible for the development of processes and procedures for WESCAM products. This includes the creation of PFMEA, SPC, First Pass Approval (FPA), control plans, tooling and test procedures.
+ Reviewing change requests generated by engineering and service staff for impact to process, product flow, product quality and documentation, and implement changes as required.
+ Leadership and support for continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
+ Conduct 8D root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
+ Working in partnership with the Service Projects ME to identify waste in the Service process such as motion, waiting, etc. and support creating data driven improvements utilizing Lean tools such as RCCA, 5S, Value Steam Mapping (VSM), etc.

About the Role

Our client is hiring an Operational Trainee to join our growing team. This structured, hands-on training program is designed to provide foundational knowledge in brush manufacturing, with a clear path to transition into a Continuous Improvement Engineer role. This requires recent education in an Engineering program - college/university- preferably in the area of study that includes Manufacturing or Process Engineering.

Brush making is a specialized process, and this role will give you the opportunity to gain direct experience in each of our core work centers. Over a 2–3 month period, you will learn how our products are made, operate key equipment, and gain exposure to business systems, quality assurance, and safety practices.

Upon successful completion of the program and performance review, you will be promoted to the CI Engineer position with expanded responsibilities and compensation.

Key Responsibilities – Operational Trainee
  • Learn to operate production equipment in all major work centers

  • Build a working knowledge of brush making through hands-on experience

  • Assist production teams with daily operations and assigned tasks

  • Gain exposure to quality, safety, and ERP systems

After completing the Operational Trainee program, you will transition into the CI Engineer role. This position focuses on driving improvements across products, processes, equipment, and systems to support quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.

  • Analyze production data to identify and act on improvement opportunities

  • Design and update routers (bill of materials, instructions, CAD drawings, raw material lists)
