**Responsibilities:**
+ Design, implement, and maintain scalable and resilient network and systems solutions to support the company's business objectives. We have a cloud first mentality, but still support some on premise technologies.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess network requirements and develop strategic plans and documents for network and systems infrastructure enhancements.
+ Proactively identify and address network performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and emerging technologies to ensure optimal network reliability and security.
+ Support network and systems-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments, from conception to completion.
+ Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including network systems diagrams, configuration details, and standard operating procedures.
+ Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the network engineering team.

**Experience:**
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in network and/or systems engineering roles, with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level networks and systems.
+ Expertise in routing and switching protocols, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs SD-WAN, and VPN technologies. Experience supporting a Tailscale mesh is a plus!
+ Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and secure access controls.
+ Experience with network monitoring and management tools, such as Logic Monitor and Netbox.
+ Experience with on-premise and cloud technologies including AWS and vSphere.
+ Experience with Terraform is a plus!
+ Experience operating networks and the systems that support them.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues effectively.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Utilize your expertise in network protocols (gNMI, SNMP) to integrate with various network devices and systems.
Contribute to both backend and frontend development, with a focus on Java, Golang and Python.
Apply your knowledge of microfrontend architectures to build modular and maintainable user interfaces.
Work with various data storage solutions, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, OLAP and time-series databases.
Optimize application performance and ensure the reliability and scalability of our systems.
Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define and deliver on product roadmaps.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, fostering their growth and development.

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in network observability, big data, and cloud computing.

Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in software development, with a significant focus on backend systems.
Deep expertise in Network Observability principles and practices. ETL processes on devices.
Strong proficiency in Java development.
Understanding of GoLang and Python and its application in backend systems.
Experience with frontend technologies and microfrontend architectures.
Understanding and practical application of SOLID principles in software design.
Proven ability to design and build high-scale applications with excellent performance characteristics.
Significant experience with big data manipulation and processing techniques.
Strong networking knowledge, including experience with gNMI and SNMP protocols.
In-depth knowledge of various software architectures, including microservices architectures.
Experience working with different types of databases: relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), non-relational (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB), and time-series databases (e.g., InfluxDB, Prometheus).
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated experience in mentoring engineers.
Strong expertise in Grafana, ElasticSearch, Kibana, GIT, Jenkins.
Experience with **CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience in one or more areas of AI development, such as natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, predictive analytics, or deep learning.

San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $198,000 to $298,000 per year

Join us as our new Senior Network Security Engineer , where you will bring extensive expertise in incident management, firewall rule administration, and cutting-edge technologies such as Cloudflare and Netskope. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Network Security, you'll play a key role in fortifying our organization against cyber threats, leading daily event monitoring, and incident response.
What will you be doing?
- Deploy, configure, and manage Palo Alto firewalls across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, leveraging deep knowledge of App-ID, User-ID, Content-ID, and Wildfire.
- Implement and manage Cloudflare security services, including WAF rule sets, DDoS protection, bot management, and SSL/TLS encryption.
- Configure and optimize Netskope Security Service Edge (SSE) solutions to protect data and manage threats effectively.
- Use scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell to automate tasks and support incident response.
- Oversee daily operations of certificates, secret management, and key management tools.
- Secure web applications by applying best practices in web application security.
- Develop technical documentation to support troubleshooting, training, and program development.
- Lead end-to-end security projects and mentor junior security practitioners.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT Infrastructure, Application Delivery, Legal, HR, and Support.
- Coach and mentor developers, engineers, and security staff to improve security practices and awareness.
- Maintain compliance with Bill 198, SOC2, and PCI DSS controls within your area of responsibility.
- Enhance and manage security processes and technologies to detect, investigate, and remediate security incidents.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to support security initiatives.
What experience do you have?
- Bachelor’s degree in security or a related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in network security domains, including hands-on work with firewalls, cloud security, and threat protection.

- Strong understanding of Windows Operating Systems (desktop and server), network routing, and switching.
