The MChigeeng Wellness Centre is a senior living facility for independent individuals who require minimal assistance. At the Wellness Centre and in the community, we provide services to individuals who require additional home supports, such as daily exercise, hygiene care, meal preparation, wellness checks and light housekeeping.
Position Summary
The Personal Support Worker will report to the Home Care Program Manager and will provide personal care and support services to clients in their daily living activities within the community of MChigeeng First Nation.
Qualifications & Requirements
Personal Support Worker Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate with a minimum of one (1) year work related experience.
Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Other Skills
Caring, honest and trustworthy.
Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills.
Excellent time management.
Available to work shift work and flexible hours, as required.
Experience working with the elderly is an asset.
Knowledge of Ojibwe culture, traditions and the Ojibwe language is an asset or must have the willingness to learn.

Role and Responsibilities
To provide patient-centered care, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to patients rostered to Family First FHT’s physicians. The role consists of a combination of clinical and program work, including but not limited to:
- Counselling child, youth, adults, and families;
- Facilitating education sessions for groups of 10-14 people;
- Delivering mental health group programs (e.g. Working with Emotions DBT group, Mindfulness group, Coping with Anxiety, Optimizing Wellness CBT group)
- Completing psycho-social assessments;
- Improving existing and developing new health programs.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years counselling the youth population;
- 3-5 years of recent continuous experience in the assessment, treatment, and management of common mental health problems;
- Has a strong commitment to a collaborative care model and can work in a team effectively;
- Treats all people with professionalism, courtesy, discretion, and respect;
- Has a leadership attitude that is positive, encouraging, and that contributes to a positive work environment for all;
- Acts with diligence, reliability, and commitment to their work.
Ideal/Preferred Requirements
- Experience/certification in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT);

We provide primary health care through a range of options including prevention, assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Our team includes health professionals, educators and support workers representing both traditional Indigenous and contemporary models of care, and uses wholistic health and community development concepts.
The position works within an interprofessional team comprised of registered and non-registered healthcare professionals, both directly and under the facilitation of medical directives, to meet the home care needs of individual clients at the community level. This position provides primary health care services in the client home environment in specified communities within the professional scope of practice established by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
NOTE: Indigenous traditional practices involve cultural ceremonies and burning sacred medicines including tobacco, sweetgrass, sage and cedar within the work setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
willingness to work to a full scope including performing delegated acts through medical directives;
