Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will be responsible for the

training and the communication of expectations, standards, results and feedback for the employees in

their department. The Production Supervisor will work with their employees to ensure that all objectives

are met, the Collective Agreement is respected and a positive workplace climate is maintained. The

Production Supervisor will also communicate with other departments and attend meetings as part of the

overall collaborative effort in goal attainment. In addition, the Production Supervisor manages quality by

ensuring compliance with HACCP/SQF; good manufacturing practices and ensures compliance with

Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities

1.Assign work with instruction objectives during start-up and throughout the shift;

2.Communicate expectations/operational objectives/standards to employees;

3. Follow-up on work assignments;

4.Quantify variances to manpower needs;

5.Communicate efficiency & quality results to employees;

6.Identify and solve problems with employees;

7.Implement method changes/conduct tasks analysis;

16. Enter invoicing data;

17. Collaborate with other supervisors (Production, Maintenance, and Shipping) to ensure fulfillment of manpower needs;

18. Have a constant presence on the floor;

19. Manage emergencies and solve problems in a timely manner;

20. Meet and communicate informally;

21. Participate in and adhere to all Health and Safety policies and regulations;

22. Other duties as assigned.


What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications and Education Experience

• High school diploma;

• Three (3) to five (5) years of industrial supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment;

• Knowledge of the food industry an asset;

• Knowledge of HACCP/SQF regulations an asset;

• Good judgment, team player, leadership and autonomy;

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office;

• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Position and Fit

The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing our Day shift automotive upfitting team. Our upfitters work each day to modify OEM vehicles into police and emergency vehicles through, routing and installing wire harnesses, controllers, partitions, auxiliary batteries, light bars, push bumpers, power supplies, component trays, and consoles. Previous experience with any of those tasks is considered an asset.

This is a high energy role with plenty of time spent on the production floor observing and overcoming issues to ensure scheduled production demands are met each day. The ideal Production Supervisor has proven leadership skills with the ability to bring about positive changes and efficiencies to the workforce. This role is key in helping the company improve the training, skills and abilities of our production team.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Open and close the shop daily, ensuring all safety and operational protocols are followed.
  • Collaborate with the scheduling department to plan, direct, and assign production employees based on job scheduling and production demands.
  • Actively monitor production on the shop floor, proactively identifying and resolving issues that could delay output.
  • Identify and manage employee performance issues, support training efforts, and guide staff development to improve production efficiency, quality standards, and safety compliance.
  • Perform record-keeping and reporting for various production metrics, including employee work hours, absenteeism, and performance indicators.
  • Enforce and uphold company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to maintain a professional and compliant work environment.
  • Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders, including other departments and customers, to ensure coordination and timely updates on production progress or delays.
  • Lead regular toolbox meetings to share updates, reinforce standards, and maintain consistent communication across the team.
  • Coordinate timely material delivery to the shop floor and promptly communicate part shortages to the appropriate teams to prevent production delays.
  • Support the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse by working with the Materials team to ensure accurate inventory and efficient part flow.
  • Ensure the production floor and facility are clean, safe, and organized, which includes:
  1. Reaching out to the landlord for any exterior issues affecting the facility.
  2. Maintaining the surrounding areas free of garbage and debris.
  3. Collaborating with the cleaning staff to ensure the building is in good repair.
  • Perform additional duties as reasonably assigned to support production and team success.


Requirements:

This position takes place largely on the shop floor with only minimal time per day at a desk or computer. The role is very interactive and requires a high level of mental and physical energy every day.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has 3-5 years of supervisory experience
  • Able to work steady days from 7:30am – 4:30pm , with flexibility to cover the afternoon shift (4:00pm – 1:30am) as needed for absences or PTO coverage. Must be able to travel between facilities approximately 1 km apart when needed
  • Is disciplined and determined with an assertive nature
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a Secondary School Diploma/GED
  • Has MS Office experience with Outlook and Excel
  • Has strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Has strong organizational skills
  • Is able to stand and walk for up to 9 hours a day
  • Has proven analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Higher consideration will be given to those with previous experience in an automotive production or automotive maintenance environment, or those who have worked with automotive or household electrical.

ROLE OVERVIEW

REQUIRED SKILLS

On behalf of our GTA-based manufacturing client, WinstonBrock Recruitment is hiring a Production Supervisor to lead daily production operations

About the Role
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for guiding daily shift operations, driving productivity, and maintaining strong quality and safety standards. This leader will work closely with the General Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure schedules are met, resources are allocated effectively, and continuous improvement is embedded into daily practices.

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Shifts: Afternoon shift
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience + health benefits  

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, training, and coaching to production staff; foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and safety.
  • Oversee workflow and resource allocation, ensuring production targets are achieved while minimizing downtime.
  • Monitor inventory of raw materials, components, and finished goods; coordinate replenishment and prevent shortages.
  • Conduct shift huddles, prepare reports, track KPIs (output, quality, downtime, efficiency), and communicate key updates across shifts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor maintenance issues, working with maintenance staff when needed.
  • Enforce health & safety protocols, carry out inspections, and actively promote a safe work environment.
  • Ensure product quality by addressing non-conformance issues and escalating concerns as necessary.
  • Support new hire onboarding, performance management, and employee development.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to identify and implement process improvements that enhance yield, efficiency, and overall production performance.
  • Step in for production staff during breaks or absences as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, safety incidents, and equipment maintenance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Proven ability to manage, train, and motivate teams while driving performance.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, equipment, and quality control standards.
  • Proficiency with production management systems and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is an asset.
  • Physically able to work in a manufacturing environment (standing, lifting up to 50 lbs., varying temperatures, noise, and dust) while adhering to all PPE requirements.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as required.
