Stantec is seeking a Project Management Lead to join our team - we have exciting projects and ongoing pursuits! You will lead a team of project managers, project controllers, and other project management support personnel responsible for the successful execution of a program of energy and resources projects . Your Key Responsibilities
- Providing day-to-day guidance to a team of project managers, project controllers, schedulers, estimators, and other project management support personnel
- Responsible for managing some projects within the program as project manager, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk in compliance with Stantec's PM framework.
- Work collaboratively with and lead multi-disciplinary project and technical staff in developing solutions to project challenges and establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards.
- Interact internally throughout the organization with staff at all levels as well as externally with clients.
- Exercise initiative in addressing problem situations and work collaboratively to resolve most project delivery-related matters.
- Lead by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management.
- Develop and foster client relationships to facilitate project activities.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Specialized project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing public and private projects from pursuit through closeout, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey program and project delivery needs to the client and to formulate those needs into comprehensive proposals.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
- The position involves work associated with critical infrastructure; therefore, a client background check is required.
- Strong technical understanding of large infrastructure, organizations and processes required.
- Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, and project; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.
- Knowledgeable in relevant areas of construction and understanding of various design and construction contracting methods and processes.
- Knowledge of local, and federal building codes, construction principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
- Experience supporting sales processes for acquisition of new program opportunities and startup of new capital infrastructure programs is desirable.
- Ability to be an independent thinker capable of solving problems within a team environment by analyzing technical issues, applying underlying principles, and delivering cost-effective solutions that provide value to clients.
- Travel to local and out-of-province project sites and client offices will be required.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 10 years' relevant experience in project management preferably for large engineering, design, and construction projects
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience leading a team of project managers and project management support staff.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or sciences, master's degree is considered an asset.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.

LOCATION

However, Vertex encourages Project Managers to work towards office attendance with their teams 2-3 days per week.

Position Summary
The Project Manager will lead multiple construction projects from inception to completion, overseeing design, permitting, procurement, and construction phases. They will manage project scope, contracts with subcontractors, control project schedules, and ensure quality assurance and control processes are followed. Project Manager - Commercial Construction
Our client is seeking a Project Manager to lead multiple construction projects from start to finish. This role involves overseeing design, permitting, procurement, and construction phases, while managing budgets, schedules, contracts, and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will bring leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive mindset to drive project success and continuous improvement.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Manage multiple concurrent construction projects from design through close-out
- Lead stakeholder design reviews and manage sign-off processes
- Oversee subcontractor contracts, tenders, bid reviews, RFIs, and change orders
- Own and optimize project schedules, understanding critical paths and opportunities for acceleration
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes with support from consultants and testing agencies
- Conduct regular site and virtual meetings to monitor progress
- Manage project budgets, track KPIs, and report performance to the executive team
- Review and process vendor and trade invoices
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to team members
- Contribute to the development and refinement of project management tools and processes
- Promote a culture of creativity, positivity, and continuous improvement
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in project management within Commercial Construction
- Professional Engineering or Technology designation (preferred)
- Proven experience in design-build projects, especially in light industrial and commercial sectors
- Strong understanding of building systems, materials, and codes
- Demonstrated ability to manage construction schedules and meet deadlines
- In-depth knowledge of estimating, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting
- Ability to anticipate and solve constructability challenges with innovative solutions

Join Stantec's IT PMO to drive delivery of strategic enterprise IT projects in alignment with our governance framework and organizational priorities. As a Senior Project Manager, you will manage cross-functional projects from initiation through to closure, ensuring outcomes are delivered on time, on budget, and in alignment with the approved scope. You will follow and champion the PMO governance, leveraging ServiceNow SPM, and ensuring compliance with milestones, steering committee requirements, and project change control.
This role requires strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills, as well as the ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes across business units and IT.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead the delivery of enterprise-wide technology projects across the full lifecycle (Initiation, Planning, Execution, Delivery, and Closure).
- Develop, baseline, and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans in alignment with PMO governance.
- Facilitate steering committee meetings and escalate risks, issues, and change requests as per PMO standards.
Governance & Methodology Compliance
- Support the development of the initiatives' requests (demands in SPM) which is a pre-requisite before initiative becomes a project.
- Ensure project compliance with key PMO processes including:
- High-Level and Detailed Requirements documentation.
- Key Milestone tracking for Steering visibility and Milestones for team execution.
- Resource planning (request resource and facilitate approvals from Resource Managers).
- Schedule baselining and PCR initiation when required.
- Maintain all project records in ServiceNow SPM, including RAID items and health reporting, project schedule.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for business and technical stakeholders.
- Communicate status, risks, issues, and decisions to sponsors and steering committees.
- Align with the PMO on expectations, governance adherence, and methodology evolution.
Continuous Improvement
- Provide lessons learned and participate in PMO feedback loops.
- Contribute to the enhancement of tools, templates, and best practices.
- Contribute to the evolution of the PMO Governance and Methodology
Capabilities & Qualifications
Required:
- 7+ years of experience in managing enterprise IT projects.
- Strong understanding of project governance frameworks and tools (e.g., ServiceNow SPM, Jira, Confluence).
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Experience with cross-functional teams and working across business and technology domains.
- Ability to manage multiple high-impact projects in parallel.
- Experience with managing programs and complex projects across multiple domains such as software development initiatives across both on-premises and cloud environments, as well as projects involving ERP systems, data center infrastructure, and network improvements.
- Experience in reporting to steering committees and facilitating executive-level discussions.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- PMP, Prince2, or equivalent project management certification.
What Success Looks Like
- Projects are delivered with clear milestones, scope control, and predictable outcomes.
- Steering Committees are engaged, informed, and confident in delivery progress.
- Governance artifacts (charter, milestone tracking, RAID logs, status updates) are complete and audit ready.
- IT PMO standards are applied consistently, and opportunities for improvement are brought forward.
**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
