Our inclusive and collaborative culture makes room for your voice, your ambitions, and your life outside of work, so you can build a career that feels as rewarding personally as it is professionally.
If you are ready to make your mark in an environment where your contributions matter and your growth is celebrated, your next great role is waiting at Cineplex.
Who we need
The Cineplex Digital Products and Experience team is looking for a Quality Assurance Analyst to join our Agile mobile app squad for a 12-month contract. Reporting to the Manager of Quality Assurance, you will work as part of the Quality Assurance team to ensure that we continue to deliver high-quality products to our guests. This role offers the opportunity to truly make your mark at an iconic Canadian company by contributing to the reliability and responsiveness of apps and websites for renowned brands, including Cineplex, The Rec Room, and others.
We are seeking a solution-driven problem solver who excels in fast-paced, evolving environments; someone who aspires to become a subject matter expert and make a measurable impact. You will play a vital role in keeping our mobile and digital products sharp, reliable, and of the highest quality. You will provide testing across multiple product lines and releases, including but not limited to regression, integration, and performance testing. You will be responsible for building test automation, creating detailed test plans, and supporting the delivery of seamless guest experiences on platforms used daily by millions of Canadians.
This is a hybrid position (1 to 3 days in-office per week) based at our Toronto office located at 1303 Yonge St. This is a 12-month contract position.
What’s in it for you
Impact. You want to be part of a collaborative Agile team supporting one of the most visible and widely used apps in Canada. You will see your work come together to shape the guest experience across Cineplex digital platforms.
Cutting-edge technology. Our team is divided into six squads, each focused on a specific product area. This role sits within the mobile app squad, the busiest and most dynamic squad, delivering new features for the Cineplex app and Cineplex Store. You will help expand test automation, explore AI-driven solutions and bring your skills to help evolve how QA adapts to emerging technologies.
Career development. This is an opportunity to expand your skills in best practices for mobile and digital application testing. You will be part of a team that values ownership, collaboration, and professional growth. You will be encouraged to take initiative, lead improvements in documentation and automation, and build expertise in modern QA approaches.
What you will do:
- Test. You will test across multiple platforms, including Web and Mobile, to ensure the overall quality of our products and guest experiences. You will create, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, and automated scripts, reporting all defects and following up to ensure timely resolution. You will conduct exploratory testing to uncover edge cases, usability issues, and unexpected behaviours not captured by scripted tests.
- Elevate. You will review project requirements, provide estimates, and make recommendations for the QA workflow. You will ensure testing timelines are met, provide QA sign-off for deployments, and contribute to continuous improvement by refining QA processes, documentation, and automation practices. You will track testing metrics such as defect density, automation coverage, and test execution progress to improve quality outcomes.
- Collaborate. You will participate actively in team meetings, stand-ups, and planning sessions, communicating blockers, priorities, and risks. You will work closely with developers and product managers to clarify requirements, flag issues, and ensure test coverage for new features and enhancements. You will assist in troubleshooting production issues, reproducing defects, and documenting results clearly to support timely resolution.
What you bring:
- The technical expertise. You hold a degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or you have gained equivalent knowledge through hands-on experience. You bring in-depth expertise in software quality assurance, including proficiency with automated testing tools, CI/CD pipelines (preferably Azure DevOps), and API testing with Postman or similar tools. You have tested large-scale, consumer-facing applications across multiple platforms, troubleshooted live production issues, and communicated results effectively. Exposure to AI automation is strongly preferred, along with a solid understanding of SDLC, QA processes, and modern web-based architectures.
- The ownership. You hold yourself accountable for delivering work on time and to a high standard. You dig into root causes, resolve issues, and bring overlooked points to the forefront in discussions. You will contribute thoughtfully during requirements meetings, flag potential risks, and elevate the quality of outcomes by probing, documenting, and sharing knowledge.
- The initiative. You are proactive in identifying and communicating issues and priorities, making an impact by clearly communicating severity and helping the team prioritize effectively. You are comfortable with ambiguity, willing to navigate without a defined path. You can confidently challenge assumptions, ask questions, and seek clarity to drive the best outcomes.
- The collaborative approach. You have strong written and verbal communication skills. You are a champion of the end user (guest) presenting recommendations that prioritize their experience. You can build trusting relationships across teams, adapt quickly to shifting priorities, welcome feedback, and thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. You stay focused and organized, with attention to detail while helping to elevate QA standards and best practices.
