**About the Role**

Position function: Reporting to the Senior R&D Scientist - DAMINAIDE for Caldic Canada, Inc. the individual will be responsible for supporting the Product Management Team in building and growing the Premix & Damin-Aide Solutions through formulation and development of products and customer projects .



Scope: The position will be responsible for leading and completing the R&D process of formulation and development of new products from the concept stage to prototype and full-scale production as well as ingredient matches and modifications for existing products for customers within the specific sector. This role will be an Integral R&D Scientist in the Product Management Team and will provide technology support both internal and customer facing ,leadership and management of R&D specialist Damin-Aide.

**Key Responsibilities**

- Leading, developing and completing R&D projects with a focus on Damin-Aide as defined by the Senior R&D Scientis Damin-Aide or, outlined thru the NPD process.
- develop R&D capabilities for premix solutions to support the growth of the brand.
- Formulation of premix and supplement solutions in specified target markets. ( USA F&B/ NUTRITION/ Companion Animal )
- Responsible for supporting the successful commercialization of new products.
- Collaborate with the appropriate business team to outline new product development and improvement projects.
- Collaborates with Procurement, Sourcing , Replenishment and commercial to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy in support of optimal placement and pricing for current and future portfolio
- Provide support with CDM’s and collaboratively works with and develops customer facing relationships and presentation skills.
- Collaborates with the pricing team to understand cost and develop competitor R&D initiatives.
- Collaborate with Technical and Applications Team to develop, coordinate, prepare and present relevant concepts to customers featuring Caldic manufactured or distributed products

**Knowledge / Skills & Experiences**

- University. M.Sc. – Food Science or equivalent is a strong asset
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of product development experience in the food industry preferably in Vitamins and Minerals
- Commercial Sales experience is an asset
- Must have strong oral/written communication and good interpersonal skills
- Must have strong presentation skills
- Must have strong computer knowledge and skills (MS Office)

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, drafting, and troubleshooting of both new and existing trailer configurations
  • Update technical drawings to reflect the latest Titan standards
  • Support custom work orders for in-house repairs
  • Collaborate hands-on in the R&D shop to optimize project outcomes

Vendor Management

Quality Assurance

This position supports the Research & Development/ Technical Innovation department in brand maintenance, quality improvement, innovation, and productivity initiatives to help the company consistently deliver high quality food products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit and protect Riverside's Core Values
  • Collect & analyze data to baseline of current operations of existing food products. Institute new analytical tests if necessary
  • Run trials in collaboration with Senior Food Scientist on different formulations or processing conditions. Determine whether the trials have been successful based on the analytics. Recommend next steps.
  • Lead shelf life studies & improve existing shelf life program
  • Maintain organization of the R&D lab. Keep lab stocked, tidy, and write SOPs as necessary to support good operation of the lab.
  • Produce product prototypes in lab for sensory evaluation
  • Work in conjunction with other R&D Scientists and Production to commercialize new equipment and products.
  • Assist in R&D projects to improve productivity, quality, & consistency; engage all stakeholders throughout project

In addition to working with and leading cross functional teams across facilities, this role will be hands on with leading, managing, and ultimately commercializing new products, Continuous Improvement projects, and Design to Value procurement opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all necessary channels of communication to facilitate customer needs. Create a culture of urgency within the R&D Department.
  • Coach, mentor and develop the R&D staff.
  • Maintain high awareness of consumers, technical trends, and new developments in the food industry, with strong emphasis on baking.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Purchasing, Operations and Marketing, to execute scale up and long-term planning.
  • Work as a technical liaison between Sales and Customers.
  • Work with Purchasing Department on Vendor Approval and Sourcing Alternate Raw Materials.
  • Work on Product Improvement Opportunities with short- and long-term benefits including cost savings or efficiencies in operations.
  • Consistently provide guidance as technical leader regarding solving technical, processing, and ingredient issues. Evaluate current and future technologies for recommendation of process improvements for cost savings and/or product improvement.
  • Facilitate cross functional teams (marketing, sales, R&D) to integrate technical and culinary strengths in product development, with strong consumer and customer focus.
  • Execute highly disciplined innovation process with a focus on commercial feasibility.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or similar discipline
  • 10-15 years of product development or closely related experience in the food industry (bakery manufacturing), with 5 or more years of direct management of large technical group
  • Experience with setting annual budgets, tracking and controlling expenses, and overall financial management of a technical department/group consisting of both personnel and technical components.
  • Academic food science knowledge with product development, new technology creation, and food manufacturing experience of bakery products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on SharePoint, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to read and write correspondence which uses technical/scientific terminology.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all contacts inside and outside of the company with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proven Bakery or Functional Ingredient experience.
  • This role will require travel up to 25% of the time.

Salary:

The Akausivik Inuit Family Health Team (AIFHT) is a not-for-profit health clinic dedicated to delivering culturally competent, high-quality care to the Inuit community. AIFHT works collaboratively with federal, provincial, and local health authorities to ensure we are responsive and rooted in a model of excellence in primary care.

AIFHT is currently looking for a Research Assistant/Associate to join our team in a one-year term position (with the potential for extension). The Research Assistant/Associate will support health research activities led by our organization. This includes gathering data, preparing, and distributing surveys, supporting stakeholder engagement, and assisting in other research-related tasks. This role will be based in a medical setting and will involve both administrative and field-based research responsibilities.

The position reports to the Executive Director and receives day-to-day guidance and support from the Research Project Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the collection and management of research data.
  • Conduct interviews with survey or study participants.
  • Participate in consultations with stakeholders (including Inuit participants and organizations at local, regional, and national levels).
  • Prepare meeting materials, schedule sessions, and take meeting minutes as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, including research and participant files.
  • Assist in drafting reports, summaries, and research documentation.
  • Support overall research team coordination and communication.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary education in Health Research, Social Sciences, Office/Project Administration, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience in research or administrative roles (related experience is considered an asset).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet-based research tools, and basic data management.
  • Knowledge of Inuit health-related challenges in a cultural context.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, client-facing environment.
  • Fluency in Inuktitut is a strong asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May be required to work occasional evening or weekend shifts depending on project needs.
  • This is a full-time, term position with potential for renewal based on funding and performance.
