Summary Of The Role

Lead and support research and development activities focused on thermoplastics and polymer composites, while also providing technical expertise to the Sales Team. The role bridges internal R&D efforts with customer-facing initiatives by managing customer projects, supporting business development, and ensuring effective collaboration between labs, external partners, and customers.


Key Responsabilities

  • Lead technical activities and manage the day-to-day operations of assigned R&D projects;
  • Plan and execute tasks to ensure timely progress toward the goals of R&D and Sales-related projects and programs;
  • Provide technical support to the Sales and Marketing teams;
  • Participate in customer meetings to offer technical support and develop project proposals aligned with customer needs;
  • Contribute to internal and external meetings, seminars, and discussions related to R&D and Sales initiatives;
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports on R&D activities; support the R&D Manager in drafting program updates and documentation;

  • Solid understanding of polymer fundamentals (both thermosets and thermoplastics) and related performance requirements, as well as familiarity with polymer processing equipment;
  • Practical knowledge of the application of polymer fillers, stabilizers, and additives;
  • Proven experimental expertise in understanding and applying polymer structure-property relationships.

Research Writer

Our global data science team works on a diverse set of problems and projects related to learning, insights, and impact measurement in the nonprofit sector. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Research Writer & Editor to support the development and dissemination of GivingTuesday Data Commons research. This includes producing and editing research proposals, academic and applied research publications, as well as translating findings into blog posts, briefs and other public-facing content. 

The ideal candidate will have experience translating complex data and research into accessible, compelling narratives tailored for a range of audiences, including nonprofit leaders, funders, practitioners, researchers, and the public. This role is key in advancing collaborative research efforts, strengthening thought leadership, and ensuring our work meets high standards of clarity, rigor, and relevance.

In this role you will perform the following:

Proposal Writing & Content Development

  • Draft and develop concept notes and research proposals for academic, philanthropic, and private sector funders and stakeholders.
  • Work with internal and external collaborators to scope project goals, methodologies, and deliverables.
  • Tailor content to align with funder priorities, grant guidelines, and institutional goals.

Editing and Review

  • Edit and revise concept notes proposals, research papers, reports, white papers, blog posts and other materials for clarity, coherence, and style.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and adherence to academic and publishing standards (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.).
  • Provide developmental editing to strengthen structure, argumentation, and impact.

Content Creation and Translation

  • Translate research findings into clear, engaging formats such as blog posts, research briefs, data narratives, and other content.
  • Support the creation of presentation narratives, executive summaries, and communication assets for external stakeholders.
  • Help identify opportunities to repurpose research content across platforms and formats.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with data analysts, researchers, and partnerships staff to gather inputs and translate findings.
  • Contribute to dissemination strategies for key findings including conference materials, executive summaries, and briefings for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure research is communicated effectively to multiple audiences.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methods, particularly in social science or nonprofit sectors.

Position type: This is a full-time, 4-month term contract

Location Details: 

Remote across Canada.
Montreal-based staff work a hybrid schedule in our Montreal office (in-office 3 days per week, WFH for 2 days)

Work Hours: We are looking for candidates who can overlap with a 9:00 to 5:00 EST workday for at least 4 hours per day. 

Salary Range: This is a 4-month contract position, paid at a rate equivalent to an annual salary of $60,000–$75,000, prorated for the contract duration.

For candidates in other locations we offer a salary that fits within our budget and takes into account local employment costs.

Summary

Responsibilities

More specifically, you will participate in the following:

  • Perform methods according to approved procedures;
  • Manage reagent orders and maintain inventory required for assay performance;
  • Participate in the shared technical management of the laboratory;
  • Adhere to current laboratory standards, follow quality system procedures, and contribute to the implementation and improvement of quality documentation.

Education

  • DEC or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Immunology, or a related field.

Main Requirements

  • 1 year of laboratory experience;
  • 1+ years of hands-on flow cytometry experience, including multi-parameter panel analysis and data interpretation, is an asset;
  • Experience in cell culture (sterility) and handling infectious materials in a BL2+ environment;
  • Experience with clinical sample handling and chain of custody procedures is an asset;
  • Experience troubleshooting flow cytometry equipment is an asset;
  • Experience with flow cytometry software (FACSDiva, FACSuite, SpectroFlo) is an asset;
  • Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) is an asset;

Sommaire du rôle

Summary Of The Role

Lead and support research and development activities focused on thermoplastics and polymer composites, while also providing technical expertise to the Sales Team. The role bridges internal R&D efforts with customer-facing initiatives by managing customer projects, supporting business development, and ensuring effective collaboration between labs, external partners, and customers.


Key Responsabilities

  • Lead technical activities and manage the day-to-day operations of assigned R&D projects;
  • Plan and execute tasks to ensure timely progress toward the goals of R&D and Sales-related projects and programs;
  • Provide technical support to the Sales and Marketing teams;
  • Participate in customer meetings to offer technical support and develop project proposals aligned with customer needs;
  • Contribute to internal and external meetings, seminars, and discussions related to R&D and Sales initiatives;
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports on R&D activities; support the R&D Manager in drafting program updates and documentation;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and technical expertise in relevant fields;
  • Develop design of experiments for new R&D projects in collaboration with customers, partners, and collaborators, subject to written approval from R&D managers;
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, methodologies, and project standards;
  • Identify and communicate potential risks or challenges related to R&D projects to R&D managers.


Qualifications

  • Master or PhD in materials/polymers engineering or chemical/mechanical engineering or related fields;
  • Strong background in plastics, polymer resins, and advanced materials, with the ability to leverage this expertise to identify business opportunities, support sales, and solve industrial technical challenges;
  • Solid understanding of polymer fundamentals (both thermosets and thermoplastics) and related performance requirements, as well as familiarity with polymer processing equipment;
  • Practical knowledge of the application of polymer fillers, stabilizers, and additives;
  • Proven experimental expertise in understanding and applying polymer structure–property relationships.
