Position Overview
Calian is seeking 2 Intermediate Subject Matter Experts to assist our client with the facilitation of their project.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert recommendations on the use of domain-specific capabilities (e.g., artillery, infantry, logistics) at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels.
- Deliver subject matter expertise on command and control (C2) and C4ISR systems employed by the CAF, coalition partners, and allied forces.
- Support the installation, integration, and configuration of C2 and C4ISR systems, ensuring interoperability, including voice and machine-to-machine communications across network infrastructures.
- Develop and refine tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) based on operational experience and evolving needs
- Support the planning and execution of wargaming, research, analysis, and Canadian Army doctrine development initiatives.
- Provide briefings and capability demonstrations to senior staff, stakeholders, and visiting delegations, including comparative assessments with allied or competing systems.
- Capture and analyze and/or interpret operational data and prepare performance reports
- Identify and recommend tools, systems, and methodologies to integrate C2 and C4ISR capabilities into experimentation and training scenarios.
- Ensure accurate scenario representation and data integrity in alignment with current TTPs for training and experimentation purposes.
- Contribute to the design and development of scenarios and training exercises, including integration of AI, machine learning, and emerging technologies.
- Advising on conceptual frameworks, methodological approaches and design development.
- Provide clear and constructive feedback on draft concepts and designs, including terminology, definitions, and process improvements.
- Submit key reference documentation to support development and validation activities.
- Attend and actively participate in in-person and remote working groups, seminars, and meetings as directed by the Technical Authority.
Qualifications
- Must have a post-secondary degree from a Canadian University or College
- Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience, within the last 10 years, working on a project, supervising a project or advising a military commander in relation to at least one of the following:
1- CAF Operational Functions:
- Experience working on the development of one or more of the Canadian Armed Forces operational functions within fighting power: Command, Sense, Act, Shield, Sustain
2- Advisory or Support Functions:
Providing advice or support in the management or development of one or more of the following areas:
- 2 or C4ISR Systems
- Communication and Information Systems (CIS)
- Military doctrine or policy
- Concept and Design processes
- Military intelligence
- Logistic
- Targeting
- Or other military specialty specified in a task authorization request
3- Military Operations and Leadership Functions:
Advising, supporting, or executing military functions related to:
- Operations
- Planning
- Institutional leadership
Additional Requirements
- Must have or be eligible to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level

THE ROLE
Our client is seeking Technical Support Specialist (Bilingual French/English or Unilingual English) to join their team. This is a part-time opportunity with a guaranteed 24-hour work week, working Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Once fully trained and onboarded, this role is fully remote.
The training period is in-person at the Burlington office and requires a full-time Monday–Friday commitment, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, for a minimum of 3 months. After successfully completing training, you’ll transition to your regular part-time weekend schedule working from home.
The ideal candidate is customer-focused, tech-savvy, and experienced in troubleshooting (knowledge of small engines is an asset). This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable technical support experience while maintaining a steady part-time schedule.
ADVANTAGES
