**What you’ll do…**

We’re currently looking for an **Accountant** to fill a current vacancy on our finance team. In this role you will work closely with the Accounting Manager to perform full cycle accounting duties, analyze financial results, and identify process improvements. This role is eligible for a hybrid working arrangement, with 3-days per week based from our Head office in Guelph, ON.

Your key responsibilities include:

- Complete monthly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts
- Record monthly journal entries and perform month end close
- Maintain, monitor, and reconcile GL accounts
- Prepare full set of financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flow)
- Prepare monthly working paper files
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset scheduled, inventory accounts, and prepaid schedules
- Complete financial analysis and provide commentary on financial results
- Support the annual external audit process, budget preparation, management reporting
- Prepare and file commodity tax returns

**Who you are:**

A self-motivated, results driven accounting professional with strong analytical abilities and keen eye for details. You enjoy working on a team but are comfortable problem solving independently with minimal direction. Ideally you will bring the following skills and abilities to this role:

- Minimum 5 years experience in full cycle accounting
- Completed bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- CPA Designation (completed or in progress)
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (i.e. complex functions, data analysis, pivot tables, v-look up, etc.)
- Fluent in English with proven effective communication skills (oral and written)
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Microsoft AX) ERP is an asset
- Experience working within a small business is an asset

**Role:**

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Analysis and Reporting, the Accountant is responsible for effectively managing the full cycle accounting process, preparing and analyzing reporting packages and completing reconciliations.

**Role Responsibilities:**

- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts. Perform ongoing review investigation and correction to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital. Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet, and intercompany accounts. Investigate and present solutions for any related discrepancies
- Perform intercompany consolidation and monthly settlement of intercompany transactions
- Monitor compliance with Sysco’s policies, procedures & accounting standards, e.g. SOX, FAMM, etc.
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports
- Maintain fixed assets sub-ledger and reporting and ensure all fixed asset transactions are submitted to the fixed asset system on a timely basis
- Prepare weekly and monthly reporting for internal, Corporate office and external reporting.
- Act as a subject matter expert for internal departments; provide accurate and timely information and support to the Manager, Financial Analysis and Reporting and Corporate Controller
- Collaborate with other members of the Finance Team to achieve overall operating objectives
- Conduct ad hoc projects as required
- Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.

Accountant

Our client is seeking an Accountant to join their team. This role is responsible for supporting full-cycle accounting and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of monthly financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, experience in financial statement preparation, and a proactive approach to process improvement within a dynamic and evolving environment.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Record transactions and prepare financial records to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Analyze financial statements and reports, to identify trends and discrepancies
  • Assist with preparing Year-End Reports
  • Assist with the implementation of a new ERP system by entering and validating data
  • Provide support to the team with ad hoc tasks
Your strengths include:
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting
  • Intermediate Excel skills: data mining, complex formulas, pivot tables, and automation
  • Experience with Great Plains is an asset
  • Proven experience as an Accountant, with minimum 5 years of experience required
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
