We are seeking a highly organized Staff Accountant who is committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences and has a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will be proactive in asking questions, eager to learn new skills, and dedicated to continuous improvement.

Priorities will include:

  • Preparing accurate financial reports for Senior Accountants and Clients.
  • Managing/supporting client relationships.
  • Effectively using cloud accounting software, including Xero, QBO, Dext and Plooto

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform the day-to-day accounting activities to maintain client records, while ensuring completeness of the records.
  • Enter data into accounting software, while managing the integrity of information and documentation.
  • Review and process documentation submitted by clients (bills, invoices, etc).
  • Proactively reach out to clients for additional information thats needed.
  • Communicate with clients by email and video calls.
  • Organize and prepare accounting records, financial statements, and reports for the Senior Accountant.
  • Provide regular processing for accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Preparing sales tax (GST/HST/PST) returns

The Horowitz Events Centre is looking for friendly and reliable customer service oriented individuals to join our Events Staff team!


We regularly run a wide variety of events within our venues in the Students Union Building, as well as across the University of Albertas North Campus. The Events Staff I position is under the general supervision of the Manager - Operations.


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provide an exceptional level of customer service to our clients and patrons
  • Work towards the successful execution of a wide variety of events
  • Complete event setups and teardown as required
  • Work catered events, including serving, bussing, and maintaining food service protocols
  • Maintain the safety and cleanliness of event sites
  • Perform other job-related duties as required


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Experience working in customer service, with an emphasis on communication skills and working as part of a team
  • Available to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Excellent work habits, including strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills
  • ProServe - can be provided free of charge
  • Ability to lift 10kg (22lbs) on occasion


This is a casual part-time position, as the frequency and length of shifts varies depending on our bookings. Event Staff are able to select shifts according to their own availability.

Join the MongoDB Server Query Integration team, and help us build a world-class distributed open-source database. Our team plays a crucial role in the experience and performance of data processing. We are responsible for building user-facing features on top of the core query engine and helping to integrate query with other products in the MongoDB ecosystem. This includes enhancing our time-series product, extending language support for analytics, helping grow our Atlas Search and Vector Search products with database support and adding workload telemetry to provide greater insight into how our database is used.
We have tons of interesting problems to solve with a direct impact on users for transactional, time-series, lexical and vector search and analytical workloads. The team is endeavoring to systematically rewrite every major component of our optimization and execution systems. We need your help to design and build the heart of a distributed, flexible schema, document database.
We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in the United States or Canada for our hybrid working model.
**Candidate Profile**
+ 10+ years of experience in data management systems
+ Experience with building production-level code with a large user base, robust design structure and rigorous code quality
+ Degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent practical experience, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design/architecture
+ Experience with large code bases written in C++ or another systems programming language. You'll need to trace down defects, estimate work complexity, and design evolution and integration strategies as we rewrite different components of the system
+ Passion for the theory and practice of database query engines, as well as hands-on or academic experience in the database domain
**Position Expectations**
+ Be directly responsible for delivering on goals which span a 6-18 month timeframe
+ Play a key role in defining the roadmap for the next 12 months
+ Write well tested, production-ready code in C++ (our test infrastructure also leverages Python and Javascript)
+ Research state-of-the art query systems to inform our design
+ Leverage deep knowledge of the strength and weakness of the product and of industry trends to provide technical vision and direction
+ Advise management on decisions related to roadmap, processes, architecture and design
