Oxford Learning South Surrey Grandview Heights has openings for upbeat, passionate, enthusiastic, and dynamic tutors who seek work in a rewarding teaching environment. Our Programs offer individual support to students looking to improve their academic skills and study habits.
Candidates must possess a strong passion for seeing students succeed and must be comfortable teaching students ranging in age from Kindergarten to Grade 8 in English.
Tutors at Oxford Learning Centre are trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods. Experience helping students with their homework is a plus.
Position Requirements
Oxford Learning Centre is open weekdays during after-school and evening hours as well as on Saturdays. Candidates must possess a strong background in spoken and written English and be comfortable teaching up to Grade 8.
This role is in-person at the Centre.
Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly dedicated and organized Education Support Assistant who is looking for an enriching experience to be part of the Fort McKay First Nation (FMFN) Education team. The Education Support Assistant supports the Post Secondary Education Coordinator and the Education Administrative team in the delivery and administration of the FMFN post-secondary education program and Education support services, available to Fort McKay First Nation members. Based out of Elsie Fabian school and reporting directly to the Education Director, this is a permanent full-time position, based on seventy-five (75) hours bi-weekly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the planning, development and implementation of programs and services for the Education Department.
- Provide administrative assistance and support to the administrative team and Education Director as requested.
- Process all new student application forms and inform them of approval process, policy and guidelines.
- Assist with processing applications, student invoices, documentation and maintain accurate files and records for all PSE student files each semester.
- Ensure students maintain their responsibilities outlined in the post-secondary program policy.
- Update and maintain the PSE student database to ensure accurate records for all PSE students.
- Establish and maintain excellent rapport with students, and refer them to academic support services, as needed.
- Assist with new student orientation and conduct post-secondary student interviews relating to their progress, grades, attendance and if there are any issues concerning students attending post-secondary.
- Provide information and appropriate websites so students may apply for bursaries or scholarships.
- Assist with all reporting, data entry, filing, documentation, meeting minutes and administrative functions for the PSE program.
- Continue education through upgrading and review of current related literature.
- Compile and prepare data, statistics and requirements for monthly, quarterly and annual reports as requested by the Education Director.
- Assist Elsie Fabian school administrative team as required.
- Assist PSE Coordinator with email communication, correspondence and phone calls to track and monitor student progress.
- Assist with the organization and coordination of community education and/or engagement sessions related to education and the post-secondary education program.
- Other duties as assigned.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- Diploma in Business Administration, Education, Social Services, Career Counseling or another related field is required
- Minimum of one-year related experience
- Strong computer skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office. (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc)
- Ability to speak either Dene or Cree language an asset
- Experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset
- A valid Class 5 drivers license and Clean Drivers Abstract

About the Organization:
The Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle (BANAC) is a regional social planning and development organization which provides innovative programs and service to Indigenous communities in Simcoe County, Muskoka, and York Region. BANAC works in cooperation with communities in areas of concern where coordinated efforts are required to meet the needs which positively impact the region. BANAC will continue in the health and social planning capacity, offering consultation and support for our community development. BANAC offers many innovative programs and services including Family Wellness, Childcare, Seniors Care and Long-Term Care, Cultural Services, and wholistic Health Services through the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Care Team.
About the Role:
The childcare Classroom Assistant Supply Staff will be in the classroom with the children assisting the Early Childhood Educators with programming, creating a safe environment, caring for the children, maintaining classroom cleanliness, conducting daily duties such as serving meals, changing diapers, writing daily reports, recording attendance, engaging in play, assisting to put children to sleep, and communicating with peers and parents.
What You Bring:
A minimum of two years experience in childcare or work-related field
Valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screen
Valid Standard First Aid/CPR Level C (infant/child)
Some knowledge of the CCEYA and licensing act
Familiar with How Does Learning Happen?
Experience working with children ages 0 months - 5 years
Up to date immunizations (Tetanus and MMR)
Workers Health and Safety Awareness Certificate
Food Handlers Certificate preferred

Information About Working at Biinoojinsauk Child Care Centre:
Work is typically performed in childcare setting
Light to moderate physical activity (lifting, bending, etc.)
Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons
Regular overtime work may be required from time to time to meet ratio.
Periodic exposure to smoke may occur from the burning of sacred medicines: sweet grass, sage or cedar.
Up-to-date Immunization Record, Including recent negative Tb Skin Test Results
Specific employment conditions are specified in an employment contract with BANAC and include the following:

Valid C.P.R. first aid level C Certificates required
Valid Class G Ontario Drivers License is required with clear check for vulnerable sector
