Title:    Lifeguard / Swim Instructor

Salary:    $33.58 /hour, 35 hours/week

Reporting to the Aquatics Program Supervisor, the Lifeguard / Swim Instructor is responsible for the supervision and control of activities, safety standards, providing high quality customer service and cleanliness of the aquatic facility.  The Lifeguard / Swim Instructor is responsible for supervision of the guests in the pool area while on shift and expected to exercise mature judgement in carrying out lifeguarding and swim instructing duties.  They will teach a wide variety of swim programs and preform rescues and first aid as required. 

Required Qualifications:

• Must be minimum 16 years of age with a grade 10 education;
• National Lifeguard Service Award;
• Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor;
• First Aid and CPR – C;
• Vision Requirement: Candidates will, at the discretion of the City of Iqaluit, confirm vision standard of minimum 20/25 corrected.

Preferred Education, Skills and Knowledge:

• Ability to work as part of a team;
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills;
• Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in written and orally;
• Must be able to perform skills to the NLS standard;
• Must be able to work flexible shifts including daytime, evenings, weekends and split shifts;
• Must be able to maintain required certification.

We are seeking a dedicated Fire Protection Consultant to join a dynamic team in the Austin, Texas area. This role will be pivotal in project management, technical development, and business growth, contributing to the safety and efficiency of various facilities.

• Provide expert fire protection engineering services, including life safety code consulting, sprinkler and fire alarm design, and performance-based fire engineering for a diverse range of facility types across the United States.
• Conduct comprehensive building and fire code reviews, including detailed plan analyses and site assessments to ensure compliance with regulations.

Powerline Technician (QEC 25-032)

Iqaluit, Nunavut

Reporting to the Line Maintenance Supervisor, the Powerline Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground power lines and cables. The position is also responsible for connecting new services, installing temporary services, and inspecting and maintaining tools, equipment, and vehicles used to carry out line work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs powerline systems, subsystems, and equipment to ensure maximum productivity and quality.

• Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs emergency powerline systems, subsystems, and equipment and replaces as required.

• Travels to remote communities to perform regular inspections, conduct preventative maintenance, install equipment, and perform general repairs to powerlines and systems.

• Maintains maintenance documentation and coordinates with operators, maintenance staff, when amending documentation.

• Ensures all materials used during construction and repairs are logged and reported to the Line Supervisor.

• Provides on-site solutions or modifications to bring systems back online as quickly as possible during outage situations while mitigating risk to equipment.

• Always maintains a clean and safe work environment and acts in a pro-active manner to make timely recommendations for continuous improvement of operations and equipment.
• Ensures work is conducted in accordance with all corporate policies and procedures; territorial, provincial, and national codes; and in compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Required Qualifications Include:

• Intra-provincial certification as a Powerline Technician.

• Valid Class 3 driver's license with an airbrake endorsement, and the ability to meet vehicle insurance requirements of QEC.

Assets:

• Red Seal certification is an asset
• Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language, and culture an asset.
• The ability to speak Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and/or French an asset.

We offer a competitive salary range of $121,763.20 to $42,251.20, and a northern living allowance of 16,008.00 per annum. Job Description

This job ad is being placed to compile a casual list of Municipal Services Labourers.  Casuals are signed up for a designated period of time and are utilized on an as and when needed basis; with potential of full-time hours.

Under the direction of the Public Works Foremans, the position will provide general labourer services, carrying out municipal services within the Department of Public Works. These services include water delivery, garbage removal, waste removal, utilidor services, road crew assistance and landfill services.

For this full-time position you must prove to be reliable, punctual, physically fit, and be prepared to work outside in all types of weather. This position involves working in some areas with obnoxious odors caused by sewage/waste. The successful candidate must have the ability to follow instructions, perform duties safely and quickly and be able to work under time constraints and within a team atmosphere. Previous experience working in a Municipality and the ability to communicate in Inuktitut is an asset.

Equivalencies that include a combination of education, knowledge, skills and abilities to formal education may be considered.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must provide a clear Criminal Record.
