Our Delta Storage Products division is seeking a full-time CAD Designer to join our Engineering and Design team! The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience designing customized racking parts and systems, experience using AutoCAD, and a post-secondary diploma in Computer Aided Design.
A Typical Day:
As CAD Designer, you will be responsible for producing accurate drawings, and layouts for our clients and inspecting custom designed racking systems onsite. This includes collaborating closely with our Engineering and Installation teams to identify and troubleshoot design issues and ensure compliance with industry standards. Everyday will be filled with variety!
Requirements:
• A post-secondary diploma in Civil Structural Architectural Drafting from an accredited educational institution
• years+ experience using AutoCAD to design selective/push-back/drive-in racking systems
• 2 years+ experience designing customized racking parts to fit various racking systems
• 2 years+ experience working with forklifts as they relate to the design of a wire guidance system, and forklift interfaces for custom racking systems
• 2 years+ experience inspecting custom designed selective/push-back/drive-in racking systems, while working under the guidance of a BC-registered Structural Engineer
• 2 years+ experience with torque specifications, embedment, clearance issues as related to engineering requirements and the BCBC 2018 and BCBC 2024

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take a leadership role in the development and mentorship of new CAD Technicians/Technologists within the department.
- Be a go-to person for CAD-related questions.
- Prepare engineering base plans from survey information, GIS data, and record drawings.
- Develop reference plans from consultant documents
- Set up production drawings, including Cover Sheets, Notes, Key Plans, Roadworks, Storm Sewer, Sanitary Sewer, Water Main, Cross Sections, ESC Plans, Pavement Marking & Signage Plans, Design Details, etc.
- Utilize Civil 3D labels, label styles, and production tools for effective presentation.
- Oversee the use of Sheet Set Manager for managing large drawing sets and title blocks.
- Undertake drafting work in accordance with Client, Municipal, and internal design standards.
- Complete redlines and plan revisions.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and design staff to provide updates, discuss challenges, and make necessary revisions.
- Prepare civil drawings and details from conception to final design, including complex projects like rail, transit, and linear infrastructure.
- Maintain effective communication with project team members and contribute to advancing Civil/Transportation Details and BIM Standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- One year CAD certificate from a college or technical school, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Mandatory minimum of 10 years of CAD design/drafting and modelling experience.
- Strong leadership skills.
- High proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work.
- Good communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Ability to accurately interpret redlines and direction.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Mandatory proven record of site grading, site servicing, drainage and access road design using the civil 3D software, preparation of all plans, sections, profiles and details drawings.
- Remarkable experience of using corridor and pipe network module in civil 3D.
- Extensive experience with 3D model development, completing design, general arrangement drawing production, redlining, annotating and drafting.
- Superior attention to detail, problem solving and organizational skills.
