Job Summary:
SolidWorks Expert will play a key role in designing 3D models, assemblies, and product prototypes using SolidWorks software. This role requires a deep understanding of SolidWorks, mechanical design principles, and a strong ability to transform conceptual ideas into detailed, manufacturable designs. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience in using SolidWorks for product design, engineering analysis, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, modify, and optimize 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems that meet project specifications and quality standards
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and product teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
- Perform design calculations and simulations (e.g., stress, thermal, motion) to ensure design integrity
- Develop product specifications, detailed drawings, and documentation for production
- Assist with the preparation of prototypes and coordinate testing and validation of designs
- Analyze and resolve design issues, proposing innovative solutions
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and best practices
- Stay current with SolidWorks updates, tools, and design trends
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience using SolidWorks for product design and development
- Proficient in creating detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings
- Solid understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g., FEA, motion analysis) within SolidWorks
- Ability to troubleshoot design problems and develop effective solutions
- Strong attention to detail and high-level accuracy in design
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
- SolidWorks Certification (e.g., CSWP or CSWE)
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and other design software
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards
- Familiarity with CAD CAM systems and integration with CNC machining

We are actively seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer at our Edmonton location.
Contribute to all project phases and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, defined scope, timelines and budget
Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems - heating, cooling, ventilation, and controls.
Prepare engineering drawings and specifications
Write technical reports and analysis to support design submissions
Review shop drawings for compliance & participate in development of engineering standards
Obtain proposals from and follow-up with suppliers and contractors
Partner with cross functional project team members
Visit and survey project sites for project related activities
Load calculations including heat load calculations using HAP’s
A Degree in mechanical engineering with a minimum of 10 years' experience designing commercial, low/high rise buildings, and multi-family residential buildings
Strong communication skills required to provide effective inter-discipline, high value engineering, client, vendor, and sub-contract coordination on projects.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit
Fluent in English
