The **DevOps Engineer** is a member of the DevOps Engineering Team and is responsible for the development and rollout of automated infrastructure-as-code and continuous delivery mechanisms which support Optum Insight's Stratus Imaging solution in cloud environments. Reporting to the Senior Manager, DevOps Engineering, you will work closely with application development and SRE teams.
You will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within Canada (expect for the Saskatchewan province) as you take on some tough challenges.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Develop new, update existing and support application infrastructure in Google Cloud environments
+ Develop new, update existing, and support reusable infrastructure as code (IaC) components
+ Automate the deployment, configuration, and scaling, of the applications that run on the above infrastructure
+ Automate the cybersecurity requirements and controls for deployed environments and software applications
+ Assist with the set up and maintenance of all test environments
+ Assist with the set up and maintenance of the production environment infrastructure and automation
+ Create and maintain documentation as required for maintenance and rollout of deliverables
+ Create and exercise test plans as required for deliverables
+ Analyze data from production monitoring tools and recommend changes
+ Assist in the development and implementation of DevOps policies and procedures
+ Work closely and collaboratively in an Agile environment with our product development, operations, and support teams

**Required Qualifications:**
+ High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
+ 4+ years of experience in software development
+ 2+ years of experience with continuous delivery of cloud infrastructure and applications for enterprise SaaS or PaaS companies in public clouds such as AWS, GCP, Azure
+ 2+ years of experience in programming and scripting, particularly Bash and Python
+ 2+ years of proven working experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly Kubernetes
+ 2+ years of proven working experience with Terraform
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 2+ years of Linux and Windows administration
+ 1+ years of experience with HIPAA compliance and the security of PHI data
+ 1+ years of automation and configuration tools (e.g., Ansible, Kustomize)
+ 1+ years of experience with software containers, preferably Docker
+ 1+ years of experience with network implementation, configuration, and monitoring
+ 1+ years of experience with Healthcare IT standards as well as with healthcare workflows

About the Role

The Tecsys Cloud Services team is looking for a talented Cloud DevOps Engineer to provide operations and implementation support for our cloud-based infrastructure as well as managed services in a SaaS environment. The Infrastructure & Production Operations team strives to automate everything, manages our infrastructure as a code, and builds our platform on the top of Open-Source tools and applications.

Job Description / Key Responsibilities

  • Building clients’ infrastructure deployment.
  • Designing, scaling, and implementing an automated approach across all stages of Tecsys platform life cycle;
  • Building a CI/CD Pipeline for our delivery process;
  • Authoring deployment logic to address different scenarios and edge cases;
  • Developing automation and tests for all our processes;
  • Working with AWS services with an emphasis on complex, hybrid architectures;
  • Monitor the various Tecsys’ server infrastructure systems and ensure their stability and maximize customer uptime.
  • Drive towards efficient, scalable architectures for the Tecsys server infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with developers to plan and build deployment automation and maintainability of larger Tecsys network.
  • Provide technical infrastructure and platform support for our SaaS offering.
  • Develop automation for routine system maintenance and monitoring.
  • Participate in the development of administration standards and procedures.
  • Research, innovate and improve cloud services offered to customers.
  • Adhere to and enforce Change Management Processes.
  • Participate in project planning and implementation. (design, implement & support).
  • Planning and executing maintenance procedures.
  • Document and automate incident response playbooks.
  • Response to incidents.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years production level experience for high volume and highly available distributed systems that are Java based or .NET based web platforms.
  • 2+ years production level experience with various AWS or Azure cloud services (at least one)
  • Demonstrated mastery in scripting (Ubuntu, grep, shell, bash, etc.)
  • Clear understanding of Networking concepts (e.g. Firewalls, NAT, Port, Subnetting, VPC, VPNs, DNS, etc.)
  • Experience with designing and owning production Unix container ecosystems (Docker, EKS or AKS, Kubernetes, service discovery, service registry)
  • Proven track record of securely architecting and/or managing AWS (e.g. IAM, EC2, VPC, ELB, ALB, Autoscaling, Lambda) using Infrastructure as Code techniques such as Cloud Formation, Terraform
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge and experiences of AWS or Azure required (at least one of them)
  • Knowledge of GitLab (enterprise license) preferred (or at minimum, Jenkins required)
  • Knowledge of Terraform required
  • Knowledge of Ansible required
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes preferred
  • Knowledge of Helm preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Java- or .Net-based development required
  • Experience with SaaS company is preferred

We are looking for an experienced DevOps/SRE Engineer for our client. This is a permanent position, that can either be remote or in-office at Toronto! Our client is a large fintech firm with a product that you've likely used many times before.

You Have:

  • You have hands-on experience with enterprise-grade infrastructures, operations and / or systems administration.
  • Familiar with DevOps engineering practices
  • Experience designing and implementing automations, including creation of CI/CD pipelines
  • Practical experience implementing and managing VMWare/Nutanix HCI and/or Microsoft Azure based solutions
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing Kubernetes/Docker solutions on Public/Private Cloud Platforms
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code automations (GitLab, ARM templates, Terraform, Ansible)
  • High proficiency in coding/scripting using Python/Go/Ruby/Shell/PowerShell languages
  • Experience with operational aspects of software systems such as monitoring, centralized logging and alerting

You Have:

  • 3+ years of DevOps/SRE experience
  • Strong understanding of security best practices
  • Experience with:
    • CI/CD
    • Kubernetes/Docker
    • VMWare/Nutanix HCI
    • Cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure preferably)
    • Infrastructure as Code (GitLab, ARM templates, Terraform, Ansible)
