Position: Pharmacist
Location: Brampton, Ontario, Canada
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, On-site
Salary Range: $105,000 to $115,000
Description:
As a pharmacist, you will compound and dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals and provide consultative services to both clients and healthcare providers.
Job Duties:
- Check prescriptions for proper dosage
- Compound prescribed pharmaceutical products by calculating, measuring, and mixing the quantities of drugs and other ingredients required and filling appropriate containers with the correct quantity
- Dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals to customers or other healthcare professionals and advise them on indications, contra-indications, adverse effects, drug interactions, and dosage
- Maintain medication profiles of customers, including registry of poisons and narcotic and controlled drugs
- Ensure proper preparation, packaging, distribution, and storage of vaccines, serums, biologicals, and other drugs and pharmaceuticals
- Order and maintain stock of pharmaceutical supplies
- Advise customers on selection and use of non-prescription medication
- Renew existing prescriptions in limited circumstances
- Adapt the formulation, regimen, duration, or route of administration of medication as needed
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of other pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, pharmacy technicians, and other staff
- Develop informational materials concerning the uses, properties, and risks of particular drugs
- Evaluate labeling, packaging, and advertising of drug products
- Promote pharmaceutical products to health professionals
Qualifications:
- Certification by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) and in good standing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to ongoing medical education
- Ability to manage a diverse range of health issues in patients of all age groups
- High on discipline, punctuality, courtesy, and ethics, with a strong moral compass and compassion

We’re looking for a dedicated, compassionate pharmacist to join our team in the heart of downtown Hamilton. Our independent pharmacy serves a loyal, niche clientele and is known for warm, patient-focused care. This is a part-time position with potential to grow into a full-time role for the right candidate who shares our values and vision.
What We’re Looking For:
A licensed pharmacist in good standing in Ontario
Passion for community health and long-term patient relationships

Someone who can follow established systems while bringing thoughtful, fresh ideas
Comfortable administering injections and vaccines
Familiar with Prescribe IT and able to conduct minor ailment assessments
Experience in compounding is a plus, but not required — we are a compounding pharmacy and happy to train

Core Responsibilities:
Accurately dispense medications and ensure compliance with all pharmacy regulations
Administer injections and vaccines in accordance with Ontario guidelines
Conduct minor ailment assessments and prescribe when appropriate
Use Prescribe IT for managing digital prescriptions and provider communication
Provide medication counseling , address patient questions, and support adherence
Review prescriptions for accuracy, dosage, and potential interactions
Compound prescriptions as needed (training available)
Advise physicians and other healthcare providers on drug interactions and treatment options
Maintain records and support documentation compliance
Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies
Deliver care that is respectful, educational, and patient-focused

Job DescriptionDispensary duties in the Main Pharmacy including medication order and profile review and entry into Meditech Expanse Pharmacy module, checking responsibilities, trouble-shooting clinical & drug distribution issues, & acting as a resource for Pharmacy Technicians & Students. As staffing situations require, provide back-up coverage for staff on a variety of patient care units and departments including decentralized medication order and profile review and problem investigation, medication reconciliation and resolution and liaison responsibilities. Based at Oakville but will include remote coverage of other sites on nights, evenings & weekend shifts. Other duties as assigned.

- B.Sc. Phm required
- Licensed or eligible for licensure under Part A of the Ontario College of Pharmacists register required
- Hospital pharmacy residency preferred
- Relevant clinical experience required
- Meditech computer experience an asset
- Dispensing skills; aseptic technique
- Demonstrated high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs
- Able to handle multiple responsibilities with competing priorities in a fast-paced progressive environment
- Must be well-organized, self-directed, set priorities, and manage time effectively
- Must be able to interact patiently, effectively, and professionally with staff and physicians
- Committed to service excellence and patient safety
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
Additional Information
Status : Permanent Full-time
Hours: Monday to Sunday; Various rotating 7.5 hour shifts (Hours subject to change based on operational needs.)
Salary : $46.649 to $66.455 per hour
