Our Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering (TPTE) group provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services and we have an immediate opening for an intermediate transportation planner/engineer to be an integral part of our team. As a Transportation Planner/Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation projects. While working as a technical team member, you may provide immediate supervision and guidance to junior employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals for accuracy and completeness, and maintaining tasks' schedule and budget with high-level supervision of an assigned senior staff or the TPTE lead. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver who takes initiative with demonstrated knowledge and experience in engineering and planning projects, understanding of regulatory requirements, excellent communication skills including technical writing and presentation skills, and demonstrated experience with transportation planning, data analysis and modelling.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning, conducting and coordinating technical aspects of assigned projects and tasks
- Uses knowledge of the general and technical concepts of transportation planning, transportation modelling and traffic engineering
- Conducts transportation planning and traffic analyses, with an emphasis on contributing in traffic engineering and transportation modelling capacity
- Obtains traffic, GIS and land use data, prepares technical reports, performs calculations, and conducts various transportation studies
- Coordinates with clients, regulatory/resource agencies, and local governments
- Provides initial quality assurance and quality control for technical products to ensure technical accurateness and regulatory compliance
- Prepares technical reports and memorandums for traffic impact studies, parking studies, transportation and transit planning studies, feasibility studies, environmental assessment studies and etc.
- Assists in coordinating with clients/consultants in resolving technical project issues, presenting reports and designs, and providing service to meet client's goals
- Performs due diligence and research on projects as required to provide the background information to start a new project
- Assists with the preparation of proposals, project reporting and other marketing endeavors
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience as a transportation planner/ traffic engineer or related jobs working on traffic impact studies, environmental assessment studies or similar tasks. A minimum of two years Canadian experience will be an asset
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation
- Expert level knowledge of traffic engineering concepts including intersection operational analysis and signalized intersections and professional experience with Synchro, ARCADY, SIDRA, and similar intersection analysis software
- Strong knowledge of provincial and municipal legal requirements, and design/planning procedures in relevant jurisdictions
- Experience in managing small projects and tasks
- Experience working on road safety studies and projects.
- Ability to work independently with high-level direction and supervision provided as needed based on the complexity of the assignment(s).
- Demonstrate an ability to work within established timelines, and project budgets
- Take initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team
- Working knowledge and experience with transportation demand forecasting and simulation modelling software packages such as EMME, VISUM, Aimsun or VISSIM and calibration and validation methodologies would be considered an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and experience with Access and MS Project
- Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges and learn new skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform individually or as a team member with effective time management skills and able to work on multi tasks simultaneously
- Strong analytical and communication skills including both technical writing and oral communication
- Skills and Knowledge in transit planning, active transportation planning, pedestrian modelling (VISWALK or Legion) and rail modelling would be an asset
- Working knowledge of TAC and Ontario municipal geometric design standards is beneficial
- Programming and scripting skills would be a great asset
- Possess a collaborative attitude in working with other members of a transportation team, subconsultants and contractors.
- Knowledge of using GIS and AutoCAD will be an asset.
- Municipal experience will be an asset.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Planning, Engineering, or related fields. Master's degree will be an asset.
- Ideal candidate shall have an active P.Eng. or RPP certificate or will be able to obtain it in short time with minimum of 5-8 years of related experience.
Our TPTE team in Ottawa uses a hybrid working environment with minimum expectation of one day in-office. Some travel may be required, such as site visits, delivering plans or documents to reviewing agencies or clients or to attend meetings. May visit study areas, construction sites and/or be exposed to outside elements and inclement weather conditions.

Your Key Responsibilities

- Performs due diligence and research on projects as required to provide the background information to start a new project
- Assists with the preparation of proposals, project reporting and other marketing endeavors
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a transportation planner/ traffic engineer or related jobs working on traffic impact studies, environmental assessment studies or similar tasks. A minimum of two years Canadian experience will be an asset
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation
- Strong knowledge of traffic engineering concepts including intersection operational analysis and signalized intersections and professional experience with Synchro, ARCADY, SIDRA, and similar intersection analysis software
- Strong knowledge of provincial and municipal legal requirements, and design/planning procedures in relevant jurisdictions
- Experience in managing small projects and tasks
- Experience working on road safety studies and projects.
- Ability to work independently with high-level direction and supervision provided as needed based on the complexity of the assignment(s).
- Demonstrate an ability to work within established timelines, and project budgets
- Take initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team
- Working knowledge and experience with transportation demand forecasting and simulation modelling software packages such as EMME, VISUM, Aimsun or VISSIM and calibration and validation methodologies would be considered an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and experience with Access and MS Project
- Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges and learn new skills

- Strong analytical and communication skills including both technical writing and oral communication

**Purpose of Position/Overview:**
The Manager, Supply Chain is the leader role responsible for the overall tactical and operational initiatives that support product commercialization efforts, ongoing demand and supply Planning, and Inventory Management for the Lens and Surgical Business Units. In addition, the Planner will manage demand forecast in collaboration with commercial partners, product supply issues and business reporting.As an important partner to Business Unit Leaders, the role is key to the success of our organization and will Interface with internal and external partners to achieve product supply requirements.
**Responsibilities**
+ Proactively identify and resolve directly or through business partnership any issue affecting the product flow
+ Organize and run forecast consensus meetings (S&OP inspired process) with Marketing, Sales and Finance. Review the forecast bias, supply risks and inventory at risk with the teams and reassess the supply chain strategy for each product.
+ Collaboratively review historical sales, research demand events, prepare forecast data, and evaluate forecast performance with stakeholders
+ Use statistical modeling in Manugistics and other Excel-based tools and analytics to generate the baseline demand forecast
+ Optimize the supply chain model by brand, by type of product to achieve the balance between inventory and service level to our customers.
+ Oversee the analysis of all the Supply Chain KPIs (Forecast accuracy, Inventory levels, Service level (BO trend), Supply performance).
+ Provide oversight for new product launch/commercialization initiatives.
+ Partner with Sales Operations team to identify opportunities and implement solutions for field assets management optimization
+ Collaborate with global organization on projects affecting the product portfolio and/or the supply network
+ Ensure solid partnership and end to end alignment with key stakeholders: commercial organizations, local and regional supply chain organizations (Plan, Make, Source), Customer, Logistics, Quality, Regulatory Affairs and Product Management
+ Work directly with Supply Chain staff on special projects and other duties as assigned
**Required Qualifications (Education / Skills / Abilities):**
+ Bachelors degree, preferably in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
+ Minimum of 5 years planning experience, preferably within a multi-plant or multi-divisional business.
+ Proven experience in managing demand planning activities in a complex environment.
+ APICS certification preferred.
+ SAP and Manugistics experience are a plus.
+ Strong demand and supply planning skills.
+ Teamwork and excellent communication skills.
+ Advanced Excel, analytical & reporting skills.
+ Troubleshooting skills.
+ Must be self-starter.
+ Must work well under pressure and can multi-task.
+ Flexibility to undertake a variety of tasks that may not fall within the day-to-day routine.
