The Role

As Director of Capital Markets, Mortgages you will be responsible for ensuring that Neo has the appropriate funders for its loan originations across mortgage products. This position will be a leader within the senior finance team to help define and implement capital markets strategies that incorporate product, pricing, pipeline management, and interest rate risk management across the organization for all loan and mortgage products. This is a new role in the company and crucial to the growth of Neo.

What you'll be doing
  • Fundraising & Securitization: Lead the charge in managing and expanding Neo's funding relationships, including building a mortgage securitization program from scratch and onboarding new financing partners.
  • Potential to work cross functionally, supporting existing credit card financing platforms.
  • Risk Management: Oversee and strategically manage our interest rate risk, executing necessary hedge transactions to safeguard our portfolio.
  • Strategic Pricing: Collaborate closely with our mortgage and lending teams to develop and refine pricing strategies that optimize both profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Market Intelligence: Continuously analyze market dynamics to identify opportunities and ensure our capital markets strategies remain agile and competitive.
  • MBS & CMB: Proficient in both the MBS and CMB programs in selling to third party investors and leading Neo in selling MBS mortgage pools into the market. Direct connections with CMHC's securitization group.
  • Financial Modelling: Develop various financial and pricing models to ensure that Neo is selling whole loans and/or commitments based on best execution.
  • Finance, Hedging and Leverage Policy: Contribute to developing Neo's finance and leverage policy for the mortgage business at the direction of the Neo executive.
  • Warehousing: Work with third party investors in supplying cost effective warehousing arrangements for Neo's mortgage business.
  • Reporting: Knowledge of Canadian software providers and solutions to manage data effectively for Neo's capital markets business.

About the Role

We are hiring a Business Analyst with proven and significant expertise in finance.

Beyond strong business knowledge, the ideal candidate will also bring a solid technical background (SQL is mandatory) and the ability to work across several initiatives at once. The role requires adaptability, clear communication, and the ability to operate between functional and technical perspectives.

Job Description

  • Create and maintain our UI applications and its supporting microservices. 
  • Optimize backend services or data pipelines for stability, performance and scalability.
  • Provide technical support to promptly resolve escalated incidents/outages.
  • Develop and document a detailed solution design, impart your subject matter expertise throughout life cycle.
  • Take business, Enterprise Architecture, system performance and development standards requirements, then develop functional, technical and user interface designs for an application and/or system.
  • Conduct code reviews to address quality, standards compliance, reusability and ease of maintenance, Operational Readiness Reviews, and support gating and review sign-offs for solution design.
  • Ensure design leverages existing reusable components, traces back to business requirements, and that new modules are designed with reusability in mind.
  • Keep up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies related to data engineering.
Qualifications

Required:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience as Java developer.
  • Experience with: Java, Spring, Spring Boot
  • Required experience with big data tools: HDFS and Kafka
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Cassandra.
  • Experience designing production grade, scalable applications and microservices.
  • Capital Markets experience required.
  • Experience working on Agile Teams.
  • Must be able to work onsite 4 days a week
