AECOM Buildings + Places Architectural team is seeking an Architectural Designer to join our Ottawa, ON based team.
AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building's engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Assignments may include, although not limited to: Water facilities, Industrial, Transit and Government projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of an architect, apply architectural concepts, building code, and zoning requirements to develop architectural design documents to the satisfaction of the client(s).
- Utilize your knowledge of building technology, assembly, construction methodology, to ensure technical excellence in all projects.
- Produce detailed technical drawings to effectively communicate building designs to clients, and contractors.
- Produce architectural designs and drawings in REVIT.
- Prepare and review working drawings, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, including the Ontario Building Code.
- Make sure REVIT and BIM requirements, standards and quality are followed.
- Develop photorealistic renderings, animated walkthroughs, and comprehensive 3D models is an asset.
- Successfully accomplish assigned work within the agreed-upon deadline and budget.
- Support project teams, including architects, engineers, and other consultants, on project coordination, as required deliver comprehensive and cohesive project documentation.
- Participate in contract administration and shop drawing review processes, contributing to the alignment with project specifications and client expectations.
- Maintain project documentation and organization of project files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Contribute to design discussions by formulating and presenting design decisions effectively.
- Stay current with industry trends and technical innovations, incorporating new ideas, models and technologies into projects.
- Follow sustainable design practices.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have completed or will be completing their Bachelors degree in Architecture or Architectural Technologist Diploma/Certificate in Architectural Technology.
- Ability to obtain security clearance.
Preferred Requirements:
- Proficiency in Revit
- Ability to work within a dynamic multi-disciplinary in-house consultant team
- Thorough knowledge of building systems and construction detailing
- Excellent communication and organizational skills

Senior Architectural Designer

- Experience (min. 5 year post-graduation) in an architectural office environment in Canada.
- Experience in significant project phases from concept through completion.
- Experience with and interest in tenant improvements.
- Experience using AutoCAD 2018 (or above) and Revit software.
- Excellent understanding of BC Building Code, Vancouver Building Code Bylaws and basic building envelope concepts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member, and to incorporate direction well.
