**What you will do:**
The Assembly Manager, Operations performs a critical role at Raytheon ELCAN, encompassing a wide range of responsibilities. Reporting to the Associate Director, Operations, this position manages the team of Assembly Supervisors and many of our key growth-focused programs. The Assembly Manager, Operations plays a vital role in the execution of this growth strategy and drives success through CORE Operational Excellence and Visual Management.
This position requires a solution-oriented mindset and a collaborative approach to leadership. Your ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and drive performance through engagement will be a pillar to your success. Improving your knowledge of the CORE Operating system - and the tools and methods which support it - will be key in ensuring the performance of the Assembly team meets our customer's needs.
As the Assembly Manager, Operations you will lead by example, embodying the culture and values of Raytheon ELCAN. You will inspire and guide our employees, helping them optimize their work, develop their careers, and find personal satisfaction. On a day-to-day basis, you will recognize opportunities to improve our culture and reinforce the behaviours that will empower us to be accountable, successful, and aligned to our goals.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Lead and oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity and cost targets are achieved.
+ Develop recovery plans and implement corrective actions when targets are not achieved.
+ Instill a safety culture that is focused on commitment, prevention, compliance, and sustainability.
+ Develop and implement strategies to improve operational excellence, enhancing quality and reducing operational costs.
+ Review and coordinate the basis of estimates for new business opportunities, ensuring accurate cost analysis and competitiveness.
+ Analyze growth targets and implement actions to ensure adequate capacity is available.
+ Interface with Program Management, Quality, Logistics, Finance, Supply Chain, Facilities, Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering to support program execution.
+ Maintain and execute strategic workforce plans to support employee development and cross training.
+ Prepare departmental budgets (expense and capital), and meet or exceed financial expectations.
+ Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills by effectively guiding teams, adapting to change, and promoting a collaborative work environment.
+ Mentor manufacturing teams, providing guidance and fostering a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork, openness and sharing information to foster unity.
+ Monitor production performance and provide regular updates to senior management, demonstrating sound judgment and understanding the impact of team actions on business drivers and adapting to industry changes.
**Qualifications we are looking for:**
+ A degree/diploma in Manufacturing, Operations Management or a related field (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical preferred).
+ 5 to 7 years' experience leading in a complex manufacturing environment with a minimum of 3 to 5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
+ Experience in high-mix, low volume manufacturing and or precision assembly (optics, electronics or defense industry is an asset)
+ Strong understanding and application of Operational Excellence (CORE) and process improvement methodologies.
+ Demonstrated experience advancing EHS practices and procedures.
+ Ability to plan and solve complex component supply and assembly problems.
+ Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to influence and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
+ Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset, capable of interpreting complex data sets and making informed decisions.
+ Effective verbal and written communication and networking skills with the ability to act as both a strategic and tactical leader.
+ Management Skills: Able to hire, plan, listen, organize, set department objectives, interpret, provide work direction, coach, counsel, train and conduct performance reviews. Ability to influence others indirectly, team members, peers and support resources. A leader by behavior and action. Strong business acumen with the ability to see larger business objective and translate into functional strategies and tactics

- The office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday with 1 hour for lunch break.

Role Summary
The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting the day-to-day functions of the Assembly Team of over 25 clerks. The role supervises the execution of assembly processes to ensure that all work orders are completed accurately and on time. On top of day-to-day execution, the position is responsible for planning and completing larger projects and reporting-based tasks on a monthly and quarterly basis. This position requires exceptional leadership, time management, conflict resolution, critical thinking, multi-tasking and self-management skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to the team, and address performance issues through one-on-one meetings and annual performance reviews
- Partner in the attraction and selection of new team members, and conduct orientations and trainings
- Monitor, motivate and communicate progress on key goals and initiatives to team members
- Develop materials, policies and procedures and provide ongoing training to team members
- Review and correct assembly procedural non-conformity
- Oversee bi-weekly pour schedules and related work orders
- Supervise the completion of all paperwork, including work orders and daily product assembly log sheets
- Enforcing a preventative maintenance program on all department machinery
- Track, analyze and communicate production-related metrics, KPIs and other key data points
- Conduct insightful, ad hoc analysis to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues
- Develop and recommend improvements in the department, equipment or procedures to improve safety, quality, delivery and costs
- Responsible for quality control inspection plans and logs and conducting problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Focus on process improvement, goal achievement, and workflow efficiency
- Ensure health and safety measures are consistently implemented and adhered to
- Conduct regular safety walkthrough audits and report to the Safety Committee
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to comfortably and regularly lift over 35lbs
Qualifications
- Leadership experience of direct reports – minimum 5 years
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment – 3 years
- Continuous improvement – an asset
- Inventory experience – an asset
- Superior computer skills with a focus on Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP system – an asset
- Knowledge of Mandarin and/or Cantonese is considered an asset

We are seeking an Assembly and Test Planner to join our Assembly and Test Department at Raytheon ELCAN. In this role, you will play a key part in defining, implementing and maintaining the assembly and test processes required to meet world-class optical product capabilities. **Requirements/Key Competencies**
+ Read and interpret technical data packages, specifications, models and drawings for optical assemblies
+ Experience in opto-mechanical assembly and alignment methods
+ Optical system testing (MTF, line of sight, transmission, encircled energy, etc.)
+ ISO optical testing methods such as ISO 14490
+ Cost estimating including process times, materials, and engineering effort to meet customer requirements
+ Define, design, source, and commission fixtures, tools, and equipment for realizing product assembly & test specifications
+ Produce detailed documentation of assembly processes and train operators on new projects
+ Create ERP routings for production assemblies
+ Support assembly operations with strong analytical, root cause and corrective action, and continuous improvement skills with a view to reduction of assembly touch time
+ Identify process automation opportunities, perform ROI assessment on identified change, implement change along with associated members of the broader engineering group
**Desired Experience:**
+ Experience with opto-mechanical assembly methods
+ Experience producing cost estimates
+ Root cause analysis
+ Knowledge of quality management systems: APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC
+ Familiarity with the design of experiments (DOE)
**Education and Technical Requirements:**
+ Master's or Bachelor's degrees in Engineering Physics, Industrial, Manufacturing, Aerospace or Optical Engineering, Physics or related fields
+ Minimum 3 years professional experience in a manufacturing technical support role
+ 3D CAD modelling (Autodesk Inventor or equivalent) desired
+ Blueprint reading including GD&T desired
+ Strong competency with MS Office
+ Strong technical writing ability and communication skills
+ Strong leadership skills and proactive team builder
+ Adaptable, innovative and problem solver
