Job Summary
The Component Engineer is responsible for maintaining approved components, usage, cost reduction and lifecycle management. The Component Engineer will provide support for component selection, qualification, and lifecycle management for both off-the-shelf and custom electronic and mechanical components.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining the Component Manager database to ensure information for all components is complete, correct, and up to date.
- Reviewing parts selected for new product designs for availability (immediate and long-term) and cost effectiveness, as well as working with the Manufacturing Engineer to ensure compatibility with manufacturing processes.
- Minimizing the impact of part obsolescence and unavailability by proactively identifying, testing, and qualifying alternate components.
- Assisting the manufacturing division with component yield and test issues.
- Developing and maintaining good working relationships with component manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors while ensuring rapid response to, and resolution of issues.
- Investigating component quality issues, developing an impact mitigation strategy with Manufacturing, and following investigations with manufacturers/vendors through to a conclusion.
- Performing design verification and in-circuit testing for component substitutions.
- Working with product management to proactively identify key dates in the lifecycle of products.
- Develop and maintain standardized test procedures and documentation for component evaluations.
Job Requirements
- Solid understanding of electronic theory and critical component parameters.
- Proficiency in the use of oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, and other standard test equipment.
- Familiarity with common shop tools (Drills, Saws, Calipers, etc).
- Familiarity with EDA software (Altium Designer experience preferred)
- Experience with PLM tools (PTC Windchill experience preferred)
- Knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of electronics compliance certifications (FCC, CE, UL, IEC)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Soldering and rework skills (asset)
- Experience with Python (asset)
Preferred Qualifications
- 4-year degree in electronics, or similar or 2-year technology diploma plus 1 year electronics experience
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a Component or Electronics Engineering role
Work Location: Hybrid (In-office 3 days per week, subject to change)
City: Surrey
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $68,000 - $80,000
This range reflects the minimum and maximum target payable for the base salary of new hires across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside this range and is dependent on various factors.

Job DescriptionThe Sr. Manager, Digital Solutions will be a member of the Canadian Product team supporting the development, deployment, growth, and strategy of Visa’s products and platforms, including but not limited to Tokenization, 3DS Visa Secure, Visa Payment Passkey, Visa Intelligent Data Exchange, Cloud Token Framework, Digital Authentication Framework, Tap to Device, Contactless, Visa Account Updater, and Value-Added Services.
This individual will contribute and help drive the digital authentication products agenda for Canada based on client needs, local market demands, and corporate priorities. They will work with internal stakeholders (including global digital product teams, local product and functional teams, sales teams etc.) and external stakeholder (including clients, technology enablers, wallet providers, etc.) to conceive, deliver, manage, and promote Visa’s digital product solutions and strategy.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of ecommerce and digital payment authentication, a strong strategic mindset, and the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders. A proven track record in product management, particularly in digital payment solutions or similar products, is highly desirable.
Key Accountabilities
- Support product strategy, product roadmap and product growth for digital solutions in the Canadian market.
- Support the full product lifecycle, including product and market research, product roadmap creation, business casing, testing, pilot, and post launch execution.
- Identifying and recommending opportunities to enhance Visa’s solutions product through potential new features/services, redefining the value proposition, and product developments.
- Create collateral and assets, including client decks, product roadmaps, FAQs, technical documentation, etc.
- Establish and track key performance metrics and conduct data analysis to monitor performance, identify opportunities and enhance product strategy.
- Create presentations and content for external and internal meetings, deliver presentations, and gather feedback to enhance product development.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (including Sales, CS, Marketing, VCA) to drive product strategy, promote and sell product solutions, and execute on product launches.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the digital payment landscape, including customer needs, competitive landscape, and emerging trends.
- Ensure compliance with products, brand and risk management standards are met.
The position will report into the Director, Digital Solutions, Visa Canada
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications
- 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
- 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
- Bachelors or Masters degree ideally with a STEM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) or equivalent.
- Expertise in program / product management.
- Basic Business Analyst capability with strong excel experience and comfortable using other data analytics platform such as Tableau
- Ability to understand architectural and technical aspects of product development
- Exceptional collaboration and partnership skills
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
- Strong leadership, enthusiasm, and accountability with high attention to detail and quality for all work products
- Entrepreneurial and flexible, strategic thinker who can balance strategy with detailed, flawless execution
- Financial services and payments network experience is a plus. Knowledge of Visa's financial practices and technology processes is a plus but not required
