  8. Drive vehicles with reasonable prudence to conserve fuel and sustain them at the highest operating efficiency
  9. Present the vehicle for repair, service, or adjustment whenever such is needed, and preventative maintenance when time is due
  10. Perform all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner
  11. Assisting with managing priorities and schedule such that individual goals as well as team goals are achieved with encouraged participation in the Food Safety Net Services Team
  12. Complete assigned FDA Collections and Photo Report for samples collected from warehouses/freezers
  13. Responsible for the safety of oneself and others working within their area

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or G.E.D
  • 2 years of professional driving experience preferred
  • Training in general laboratory practices
  • Will have a current, valid driver's license issued in the State of operation
  • A driving record with no DUIs or major moving violations or accidents within the past 60 months
  • Demonstrated professionalism, dependability and initiative in prior work experience
  • Basic knowledge of concepts and practices of a testing laboratory preferred

*Position Summary:*

Responsible for courteous, on-time, and accurate deliveries of food products. Operates a van to perform deliveries throughout the city. Hourly rate will be provided in addition to a standard fee per delivery made. Number of deliveries will vary depending on business needs.

Shift Detail: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day,

Monday to Friday 9PM Start time.

This position is an entry level position with the expectation that the suitable candidate will transition through different driving roles leading into a Class 1 driving position.

*Essential Functions:*

* Ensure accurate, timely, and efficient deliveries to local clients within the food industry. Works professionally, courteously and safely.
* Handling food products (produce, spices, seafood, meat, dairy, etc).
* Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers both verbally and in written form.
* Perform proper equipment maintenance, monitor reefer temperature, and reports mechanical issues and damages in a timely manner.
* Loading and unloading products in a safe manner, using provided tools as appropriate.
* Lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
* Communicate with the Transportation supervisor and other departments regarding issues and concerns.
* Complete daily check-in procedures.
* Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

*Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:*

* Ability to adhere to all safety/compliance regulations and procedures.
* Ability to deal effectively with customers and the public.
* Must maintain a professional appearance wearing the GFS uniform.
* This position requires punctuality, problem solving and attention to detail.
* Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
* Ability to work independently and also function in a team environment.
* Must be goal oriented with a positive “can-do” attitude.
* Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language.
* Ability to meet the physical demands of this job including lifting, pushing, pulling of product.

*Equipment / Tools / Technology:*

* Ability to operate on-board computer and handheld scanner.
* Ability to operate a delivery van CMV
* Must be able to operate a two-wheeler with a load weighing up to 350 pounds.
