Position Summary

The Information Security Operations Specialist plays a critical role in safeguarding Beanfield’s information assets by maintaining a secure environment, monitoring security events and alerts, and responding to confirmed and potential cyber threats.

This role is responsible for the management and operation of security tools and systems, including firewalls, corporate network equipment, and security solutions, while developing and tuning detection rules, monitoring security events, and leading investigations and response activities. The Information Security Operations Specialist works closely with Beanfield’s technical teams to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of critical information systems.

Key Responsibilities

Security Infrastructure Operations

  • Develop, implement, and maintain firewall & security appliance rules to enforce security policies and restrict unauthorized traffic.
  • Process and review firewall & security appliance rule change requests, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
  • Monitor firewall & security appliance performance and health; conduct maintenance to ensure optimal operation.
  • Administer and monitor network access, ensuring only authorized devices and users connect to the LAN.
  • Lead efforts to remediate vulnerabilities and risks across security and LAN devices, reducing the organization’s attack surface.
  • Ensure compliance of network devices and endpoints with established security policies and baselines.
  • Centralize and correlate relevant security events from firewalls and network devices for anomaly detection and investigation.

Threat Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Develop, deploy, and operate monitoring tools for network traffic, system logs, and alerts to detect threats or vulnerabilities.
  • Proactively track emerging threats and recommend security enhancements to strengthen overall posture.
  • Investigate, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity incidents following the incident management framework.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead incident response, manage escalations, and provide technical expertise.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews, identify root causes, and contribute to problem management to prevent recurrence.

Security Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the creation, implementation, and management of security policies, procedures, and controls aligned with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in ITIL-based continual improvement initiatives to refine security processes and improve response efficiency.
  • Contribute to enhancing the maturity of the Security Operations function.

Security Reporting & Documentation

  • Compile and maintain security incident reports, vulnerability assessments, and risk analyses.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, incident response plans, and security policies.
  • Provide regular reports to the Director of Information Security on incident status, vulnerability trends, and security performance metrics.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Required:
    • 3-5 years of hands-on experience with firewall management, network operations, threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
    • Familiarity with SIEM platforms, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other cybersecurity tools
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical security concepts to non-technical audiences
    • Current knowledge of cybersecurity methodologies and trends
    • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
    • Self-motivated, dependable, resilient to change, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Preferred:
    • 4+ years of experience in one or more of: Network Operations, Security Operations, IT Operations, Security Incident Response
    • Hands-on experience with FortiNet products and technologies
    • Experience with vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, OpenVAS)
    • Scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for security automation
    • Exposure to network planning, design, and governance risk & compliance
    • Experience with ITIL-based Incident and Problem Management
    • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (NIST, CIS-CSC, SOC 2, ISO 27001)
    • Preferred certifications, such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CompTIA Security+, or ITIL v4 Foundations

Title: Senior Analyst, Global Security Operations

Pay: $72,000 to $79,000 with incremental increases based on tenure, performance and completion of courses.

The Sr. Analyst is a member of the Global Security Operations (GSO) team and is focused on process improvement and change management.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assessing the efficacy of existing processes, ensuring they are scalable, identifying areas in need of improvement, and implementing changes. This may include automating manual tasks and the creation of new processes to replace legacy ones;
  • Developing new processes and all associated documentation, and ensuring they are compliant with CIBC standards;

The Specialist provides second-level technical client support such as: cyber security analysis of detected anomalies; deep analysis of the operating system; dealing with system crashes and bug fixes; handling troubleshooting; packets captures; configurations; restoring from back up; repair for appliances, networks, and infrastructure, and other system issues for one or more of three particular disciplines: Network Security, Information Security, and/or Endpoint Security; and brings an established repository of technical expertise to act as a Subject Matter Expert. This role upholds defined service level agreements (SLA) and customer service excellence. The Specialist continues to develop a platform of technical expertise.

What you will do:

24x7 Support – 60% job weight

  • Monitors and resolves support requests. Escalates unresolved issues to senior team members and/or manager(s)
  • Performs deep analysis of the operating system. Handles Cyber incidents, system crashes and bug fixes. Handles troubleshooting, packets captures, configurations, restoring from back up, and repair for appliances, networks, infrastructure, and other system issues. Issues may multiple interactions with clients and/or vendors to resolve
  • Identifies efficiencies and improvements in workflow, thus reducing false positives in client environments
  • Performs root cause analysis and collaborates with consultants and other Analysts to solve repetitive system performance or configuration problems
  • Provides technical knowledge transfer to clients and internal department on low complexity problems
  • Identifies, records, and escalates service performance trends, anomalies, and SLA breaches to senior leadership
  • Applies Trusted Advisor techniques to build up client trust and influence loyalty

Service Delivery Improvement - 20% job weight

  • Provides mentorship and guidance to less senior resources as a trusted advisor in the application of CDW methodologies and the use of tools and templates to troubleshoot client requests
  • Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and knowledge base articles

Professional Development – 20% job weight

  • Attends training sessions or shadowing activities, and obtains industry related certifications as determined by Manager
  • Participate notably in assigned self-paced trainings

What we expect of you:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or 3-year diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, or a Technology related field and 1 years of security experience in a client-focused environment, and/or working in a security operations center, OR
  • 6 years total of Information Technology experience to include 1 years of security experience in a client-focused environment, and/or working in a security operations center
  • At least two intermediate-level certifications in Managed Security Services disciplines, including but not limited to:

Bilingual (French/English) - Senior Analyst, Global Security Operations

Pay: $72,000 to $79,000 with incremental increases based on tenure, performance and completion of courses.

Schedule: Monday to Friday with most days in the office and some working from home.

Language: Must be fluent in both French & English

Main Responsibilities:

The Sr. Analyst is a member of the Global Security Operations (GSO) team and is focused on process improvement and change management.

As a member of the team, you will contribute directly to its growth. The ideal candidate should have an eye for detail, be self-motivated, and be an effective communicator who is capable of working in both a team environment and independently.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assessing the efficacy of existing processes, ensuring they are scalable, identifying areas in need of improvement, and implementing changes. This may include automating manual tasks and the creation of new processes to replace legacy ones;
  • Developing new processes and all associated documentation, and ensuring they are compliant with CIBC standards;
  • Creating new documentation or updating existing content, and ensuring both the process and its documentation align with CIBC's standards. This may include altering existing processes and collaborating with team members to identify benchmarks and best-practices;
  • Collection of qualitative and quantitative data, and compilation of reports illustrating trends in KPIs, KRIs, and other metrics;
  • Quality assurance. This may include testing random samplings of output created by processes to ensure established quality standards and benchmarks are consistently being met;
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal team members, adjacent teams, clients, and external partners;
  • Ensuring the Enterprise Physical Security System is being used effectively and according to standards; if it is not, working with site staff and Enterprise teams to find a resolution;
  • Being adaptable and flexible in the face of changing business needs.

The Ideal Candidate will demonstrate the following skills and characteristics:

  • Bilingual - fluent in both English and French;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to think critically;
  • Compilation, analysis, and presentation of reports. The ability to interpret and present data in a professional and polished manner;
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships of trust with internal and external clients;
  • Adaptable and able to learn new software applications/programs quickly and effectively;
  • Focused on continuously improving both the program and yourself;
