As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for performing pre-shift inspections and morning start-up of equipment. You will operate manual lathes with a foot press or hand button and strip materials using the overhead crane to move them. You will follow instructions to set up and operate machines efficiently.

Thrive Freeze Dry, a rapidly growing freeze-dried manufacturing company is recruiting for experienced Freeze dry Operator/ Machine Operator for our locations in Langley BC reporting to the Production Supervisor. This opportunity is for the12 hours rotational shift (Day/Night) primarily responsible for operating the freeze-dry system with a user interface entirely in mandarin, loading/unloading product carts, and ensuring that pet food products meet quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor the freeze-dry system to ensure consistent performance and output.
- Load and unload product carts into chambers and blast freezers as part of the production workflow.
- Ensure freeze dry process is followed to meet customer specifications and company standards.
- Maintain product quality, hygiene, and safety in accordance with the company’s quality assurance programs.
- Accurately complete and maintain production records and logs.
- Troubleshoot the freeze dry operating system and dryers
- Escalate any critical concerns to the Supervisor promptly
- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for safe machine shutdown during equipment failures or power outages.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience operating production equipment is an asset.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Efficient, time-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Adheres to safety protocols and maintains a clean, healthy workspace.
- Observes and analyzes system performance to identify issues.
- Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Background in food industry or food science is an asset.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is a must.
Physical Environment:
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly and perform tasks requiring kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting.
- Comfortable working in temperature-controlled, refrigerated, or chilled environments.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Availability to work on Weekends and statutory holidays as per schedule needs
