Prescription assembly and data entry:
Processing customer transactions (receive and release prescription requests)
Receiving in-person and telephone refill requests and record deliveries
Understanding and promoting pharmacy programs
Filing prescriptions, ordering, and replenishing supplies, and cleaning
Drug order creation and receiving, compounding and pill pack assembly
Scheduling professional clinical services
Behind the counter management, cycle counts, narcotic counts, stock returns, tallman lettering, manual third parties
Assisting the pharmacist with dispensary tasks as permitted by scope
What you have to offer:
Preferred: Pharmacy Assistant Diploma from a recognized post-secondary Institute
Will consider applicants with 2 years retail Canadian Pharmacy Experience in lieu of certificate in some Provinces
Previous pharmacy experience is an asset

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check IVR voicemail messages and process all refill prescriptions electronically requested.
  • Check emails regularly and respond accordingly. 
  • Process invoices received from the wholesaler and print them to be ready once the order is received. 
  • Respond professionally to inquiries and requests made by home operators, residents, and members of the care teams. 
  • Process weekly batching, printing hard copy reports, and new refill authorization. 
  • Enter new or changed prescriptions in blister packs and communicate the changes to homes to coordinate start dates and blister swapping.  
  • Collaborate with the pharmacist on duty to provide efficient dispensary and pharmacy services. 
  • Coordinate and schedule delivery and shipping services via Canada Post and Purolator if needed. 
  • Contact prescribers verbally or via fax for clarifications and various functions.
  • Manage inventory of injectables and products for regular delivery schedules. 
  • Managing Accounts Receivables and printing invoices and expense reports for the monthly period end. 
  • Work within the scope of practice as dictated by the provincial and federal laws. 
  • Respect all privacy laws as it pertains to patients’ medical and health information. 
  • Work within the scope of practice as dictated by the provincial and federal laws. 


Specific Requirements:

  • Experience as a Registered Pharmacy Technician is an asset. 
  • Exceptional and professional customer service to our clients, residents, and members of the care team, ensuring superb service at all times. 
  • Self-directed with the ability to work both independently and collaborate with the pharmacy team. 


Preferred:

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) in good standing. 
  • Experienced Pharmacy Assistant with minimum 3 years of experience in a pharmacy servicing long-term care and/or group homes. 
  • Advanced experience in the billing & third-party adjudication on Kroll. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Membership with the Canadian Associate of Pharmacy Technicians (C.A.P.T), preferred
  • Experience in a hospital pharmacy, preferred
  • Sound working knowledge of computer applications i.e. Meditech and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to handle a variety of complex tasks and issues promptly and efficiently while maintaining accuracy and meeting conflicting deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience in providing exceptional patient centred care
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required
