Your role:

The Senior SQL Database Developer is responsible for managing Global Relay's production Microsoft SQL database systems. This includes the development, review, and maintenance of database scripts, custom reports, data extracts, and ongoing optimization of databases and applications to ensure the highest level of database and application performance.

As part of the Development organization, the Senior Database Developer is responsible for the ongoing programming in connection with our various DB's, services, and applications; and assisting with the development and testing of new systems, features, and services. This will include complying with the standards that are set by the team and company in terms of development styles, methodologies and processes.

Your job:

  • Monitor and maintain all internal Microsoft SQL databases
  • Perform routine archiving, security, and auditing related tasks, according to applicable policies and procedures
  • Support client database functions, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) services
  • Work as part of an agile development team to Architect, deploy and maintain SQL services for enterprise services
  • Collaborate with QA in development of test cases for SQL Services
  • Provide management reports, customer reports, and data extracts
  • Conduct research, analysis, and profiling to develop methods to improve database performance, functionality, and availability
  • Plan, communicate, execute, and document database related maintenance and upgrades
  • Assist with space management initiatives and database migration projects
  • Support audit and security processes including access control and user management
  • Ensure staging and production environments are running smoothly

About you:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in database administration, development, and support
  • Experience in Windows
  • Experience in Microsoft SQL 2012/ 2016 /2019
  • Proven ability to solve technically complex, multi-faceted problems; strong analytical skills
  • Experience in high-level systems analysis, measurement, queuing theory and capacity analysis
  • Self-motivated and curious – an ability to understand how complex systems work.
  • Experience in database architecture modeling, design, and implementation
  • Expert knowledge in database performance tuning and query optimization
  • Ability to work with agile teams to support dynamic and high-availability environments
  • Strong knowledge of database backups/restores, clustering, mirroring, and replication

Compensation:

Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in compliance with British Columbia's pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as expertise, skills, education, and professional background.

The range below reflects the expected annual base salary, which is only one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect our company pay philosophy, culture and values. The Opportunity:

The SQL Server Database Developer is responsible for developing solutions in our SQL environment to support our business applications and BI Reporting platforms. You will have a strong understanding of business concepts with working knowledge in key technical tools. Key Accountabilities:

SQL Server Database Development (90%)

 
  • Develop, test, and maintain SQL Server stored procedures, functions, tables, views, and triggers relating to vendor supported applications and custom written .NET applications.
  • Create, maintain, and deploy reports in SSRS, PowerBI and vendor reporting solution.
  • Champion the automation processes to create workflows with SSIS in order to manage the data warehouse.
  • Automate processes and create workflows with SSIS.
  • Use SSAS to design Dimensions, Measures, and Roles.
  • Write complex SQL queries, functions, and triggers.
  • Implement improvement modifications to complex and verbose stored procedures.
  • Identify KPI’s required and add them to dashboards such as PowerBI / Analyzer.
  • Use knowledge of SSRS and report design to create and deploy reports.
  • Analyze and implement solutions to optimize slow performing queries or procedures.
  • Provide support for on-demand data requests from user groups.
  • Participate in team meetings to gather requirements and develop BI solutions suited to business needs.
  • Provide data management support to .NET development team.
  • Maintain documentation on system and process flow modifications.
  • Perform after hours support and system upgrades when necessary ensuring critical
  • systems/functions are operational.

  • Experience maintaining complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL 2008+, with a solid understanding of SQL permissions to maintain high level of data security.
  • Experience with Low Code Development applications such as Alteryx or Knime an asset.

  • Posséder au moins cinq (5) années d’expérience en technologies de l’information dont au moins trois (3) ans en développement de systèmes sous Oracle;

  • Oracle Developer 6i;

We are looking for an experienced SQL Developer for our client. This is a permanent position, remote! Our client is a large fintech firm with a product that you've likely used many times before.
You'll have the opportunity to work on an extremely large, internationally used payment platform. Your role will encompass managing, building, planning administrating and maintaining infrastructure services like Systems, Containers, Servers, Data Centers and Storage to ensure our client has a robust, scalable and stable infrastructure.

You Have:

  • 7+ years experience working with MS - SQL data development
  • Strong experience with SSRS and Stored Procedures
  • Experience with visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau
  • Experience working in a cloud environment (ideally Azure )
  • Bonus points if you have experience with Python and Pyspark
  • A B.Sc. or equivalent work experience required.
