- Pre-Employment Conditions: Pre-access D&A test, mask fits and audiometric testing
Requirements:
- Must possess maintenance electrical experience.
- Must be a certified electrical Journeyperson.

Candidate must have motor control drive circuit design experience
Selected candidate is expected to perform one or more of the following tasks:
• Perform electrical circuit design, analysis and verification activities, preferably using model based design approach (MBD) as a lead or part of of a hardware development team
• Perform trade studies in concept selection, product architecture design and analysis; electronics circuit (mixed signal and/or power supply) design and analysis
• Develop low level requirement documents and manage requirement changes using DOORS
• Conduct technical presentations and participate in design reviews.
• Collaborate with other functional groups as necessary to advance the product design
• Provide support to manufacturing, investigate failures and identify root causes and permanent corrective action by working with internal and external customers.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design of low and medium voltage power systems and acts as the primary technical interface for the equipment they are assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Create bill of material and drawing packages for manufacture for equipment of moderate complexity.
· Independently performs design, troubleshooting and commissioning job functions as needed to support IEM equipment.
· Support production during the equipment manufacturing phase and testing by answering any technical inquiries.
· Work with mechanical designers to layout out and create front views/plan views of switchgear and switchboards.
· Select components and create detailed bills of materials for our products
· Write sequence of operation documents to define automatic system functionality.
· Work with test and field service teams to verify system operation to the design and written sequence of operations.
· Collaborate with other IEM teams to support equipment demonstrations in the factory, providing hands-on technical expertise and guidance to ensure successful execution of the factory witness test.
· Perform design job functions as needed to support IEM’s products and to achieve customer goals
· Independently support sales and the project management team in answering customer questions as it relates to the design.
· Complete short field assignments where troubleshooting, design consultation, customer meetings, or engineering support is required (generally less than 5 days at a time and not to exceed 15% of total time)
COMPETENCIES:
· Understanding of electrical engineering principles and applications as they apply to the power industry, including codes, standards, and design practices.
· Experienced in utilizing AutoCAD for electrical design.
· Understanding of mechanical layout and considerations.
· Task management and the ability to carry out a plan that moves a task to completion with a number of concurrent tasks.

- Job-Type : Long-Term Contract opportunity. Initial contract of 12 months, with good possibilities of extensions.
- Location : Pickering, ON L1W 3J2, Canada.
- Work Style : 40 hours/week. Hybrid Work setting - 3 days/week in the office required.
- Travel Requirements : Regular travel/visits to client sites in the Durham region are required, as well as occasional travel within the GTA

Accountabilities/Deliverables
To deliver electrical engineering expertise to power generation utilities and other customers. The specific accountabilities of the position are as follows:
- Provide input and direction to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process.
- Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team.
- Provide electrical power distribution design and analysis for operating nuclear and other industrial plants.
- Perform condition assessments of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, motor control centers, generators, and other power plant equipment.
- Develop life cycle plans, including inspection and test programs.
- Perform engineering change design and analysis following established Engineering Change Control procedures.
- Perform electrical analysis, equipment protection, cable, and electrical equipment selection.
- Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation, and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.
- Provide field support to multi-disciplined plant design modifications, including provision of field engineering.
- Provide technical guidance and direction on projects, and act as the design team lead where appropriate.
- Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.
- Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Stay current with developments within your field of expertise.
- Regular travel/visits to client sites in the Durham region are required, as well as occasional travel within the GTA.

Ideal Candidate for this Role
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) is required.
- 5+ years’ experience in electrical design engineering.
- A Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO) , or eligible for PEO status, with a passion for engineering.
- Proven track record in electrical design and analysis in electrical power distribution, including application to nuclear plants.
- Strong knowledge of generating station power upgrades, including necessary system protection/system stability, and relaying.
- Experience in performing condition assessments of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, motor control centers, generators, and other power plant equipment.
- Knowledge of the life cycle management of electrical equipment.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of the use of appropriate codes and standards (e.g., N299 and CSA N286), as applied to nuclear plants and conventional plants.
- Experience in project management and interfacing with and coordinating activities of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge and experience working with nuclear power plant (Bruce Power, OPG, NB Power, or other) systems & processes, e.g,. Engineering Change Control is an asset.
- Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of station customers.
- Good understanding of nuclear power plant design and operation.
- Experience in leading technical projects to successful conclusions.
- Assist in the development of proposals and the negotiation of contracts with clients.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have demonstrated a high commitment to quality.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead complex and/or multi-disciplinary projects.
- Innovative, enthusiastic, and ready to be part of our dynamic team.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize assigned work and coordinate multiple activities efficiently.
- Must be motivated by working with engineering professionals committed to producing timely and high-quality technical work.
