ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an Apprentice Technician to join our team at South Pointe Honda. The successful candidate is someone who is passionate about the automotive industry and eager to contribute to our growing team.

Key Responsibilities:

The Apprentice position is a fantastic starting opportunity within the automotive industry as it presents you with exposure to all departments in the dealership. In addition, you will be provided with exposure to inventory and customer engagement.

  • The right individual will share a passion for providing a quality customer experience and have the opportunity to grow in an environment of respect, trust, honesty and collaboration.

  • Dedicated to quality of workmanship, diagnostics and maintenance repair as per required standards.

  • Perform daily maintenance that will include lubrication, oil and filter changes, tire rotations, accessory installations and scheduled maintenance.

  • Assist in diagnosis, repair and complete approved service on customer vehicles

  • Accurately record the cause and correction of the issue in our dealership software on customer repair orders

  • Performs road tests to identify issues and subsequently confirms repairs are completed to a satisfactory level

  • Provides Service Advisors a summary of additional maintenance or required work that needs to be performed

  • Provides Service Advisors with accurate parts and labour estimates through utilizing our dealership software

  • Accurately record the cause and correction of the issue in our dealership software on customer repair orders

  • Completes the Technician portion and related inspection forms

  • Maintains and follows manufacturer warranty policies and procedures

ABOUT YOU

  • Currently enrolled and actively pursuing an Automotive Journeyman Apprenticeship. Preference will be given to 2nd or 3rd year candidates.

  • Requires clear written and oral communication skills and a willingness to attend training seminars and courses to expand professional development.

  • Requires a valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.

  • Ability to carefully and safely drive both standard and automatic vehicles.

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items such as tires, tools and equipment.

The Appentice - Truck and Transport Technician is a team player who assists with planning, preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and other associated tasks as outlined below. The Technician assists with maintenance for the fleet of amphibious vehicles to provide our guests as well as our team with a safe, reliable and aesthetically pleasing fleet.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with maintenance of Transport Canada Inspected Passenger Vehicles in a manner that ensures the Safety and Security of the team, Enjoyment of the Passengers, and Respect for the Environment.
  • Our Technicians adhere to all company policies.
  • Maintains apprentice paperwork as required.
  • Inspects and maintains vehicles/vessels to ensure they meet standards laid out by Transport Canada and the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.
  • Routinely inspects all areas of the vessels for unsafe conditions.
  • Maintains and updates maintenance logs.
  • Maintains and replenish inventory and takes part in annual inventory audits.
  • Throughout the day, at beginning and at ending of shifts; will ensure that a clean workplace.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Standing, bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to or exceeding 50lbs may be required. The marine hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. During the operating season, hours outside of a regular Monday- Friday schedule can be expected.
