To meet our growth challenges, WSP is currently seeking a **Structural Engineer/Structural EIT** to join our team based out of our **Saskatoon, Saskatchewan** office.
As part of the Structural team, you will be working on complex heavy industrial and mining projects. You will apply your structural design knowledge on project work from conceptual design through completion. Technical quality, cost effectiveness, building and maintaining client relationships, and providing guidance to a team of designers are integral parts of this role.

**What you can expect to do here:**
+ Complete structural designs and calculations for buildings and industrial structures.

**What you'll bring to WSP:**

+ Must possess a team player attitude and be able to work in a project team environment.

**We are currently hiring a Structural Engineer to join the Engineering team at our Underground Salt Mine in Goderich, Ontario. This is not a fly in/fly out position. The candidate would be required to relocate to the area.**
Compass Minerals' Goderich Salt Mine, located 1,800 feet under Lake Huron, is the largest underground salt mine in the world. The mine is as deep as the CN Tower in Toronto is tall. The rock salt produced at the mine is used to keep citizens in North America safe as they travel through winter snow and ice. The salt is shipped to hundreds of communities around the Great Lakes and along the St. Lawrence Seaway. Some of the salt is trucked to the Compass Minerals plant less than 4 kilometers away, to be packaged for distribution and sale at retailers in North America. The salt is also sold in bulk to manufacturers that make plastics, detergents, disinfectants and other important products.
Goderich is named Canada's Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1.5 hours from London and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.
**HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM?**
The Structural Engineer performs structural assessments of mine and plant infrastructure, evaluates and designs modifications to existing facilities to incorporate process upgrades, and prepares designs for fabrication of various structural components. This position works closely with operations personnel, maintenance personnel and engineering peers.
- Perform the necessary calculations and designs for various structures such as conveyor beltline systems, transfer towers, crusher and screen supports, material transfer/storage systems (loading pockets, chutes, support towers, shaft skipping, truck loadout, rail loadout, ship loader, bin storage/metering, live pile storage, surface dome storage) and foundations.
- Evaluate existing steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures to determine how various modifications can be made to incorporate new or additional equipment without impacting personnel safety or the structural integrity.
- Perform assessments of surface and underground infrastructure to determine if repairs or replacement is required. If so, recommend a suitable remediation program.
- Create civil/structural designs as required and ensure they comply with applicable codes and standards.
- Perform project management functions such as cost control, schedule preparation, preparation of tender documents, bid analysis, oversight of commissioning.
- Oversee work performed by consultants and contractors to ensure they are performing their duties as required.
- Prepare and complete risk assessments and management of change functions as required to ensure projects are designed and constructed to comply with pertinent mining regulations and company standards.
- Provide direction to other engineering personnel, contractors and consultants.
- Provide assistance as required to other engineering personnel (ground control, mechanical engineering, drafting, etc).
- Shaft heavy lift plan review and approval.
- Lead civil/structural improvement projects from concept to implementation.
- Perform value engineering analyses to ensure effective use of company resources and fit for mine applications.
- Act as subject matter expert in adherence to site engineering standards and industry best practices.
- Create technical drawings with AutoCAD and Solidworks, as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation.
