**How will you make an impact in this role?**
**Manager, Treasury - Funding, Liquidity & ALM**
This Manager, Treasury role will be responsible for the management of balance sheet risks at Amex Bank of Canada (Bank), including Funding and Liquidity Risk Management and Asset-Liability Management activities at the Bank. This will include the ongoing development, maintenance and execution of the Bank's ALM and funding and liquidity risk management framework under the Basel and OSFI regulations and requirements.
This role resides within the Global Treasury Legal Entity Management (LEM) group within the Global Treasury organization. The LEM team is part of the Global American Express Treasury Balance Sheet Strategy organization which has enterprise-wide accountabilities for satisfying complex and evolving regulatory requirements and expectations. The LEM team is responsible for coordinating and supporting the delivery of treasury services for AXP legal entities ensuring that corporate-wide treasury principles, strategies and policies are consistently applied across all legal entities while reflecting the local environment governance requirements, regulations and business models and include capital management, funding & liquidity risk management and asset-liability management. In addition, the group is responsible for establishing separate capital adequacy, stress testing, and financial risk management programs to meet regulatory expectations and ensure business initiatives appropriately address legal entity requirements.
This position reports to the Director, Canada Treasury, and will be **responsible** to:
+ Perform monthly forecasting and quarterly analyses and reporting on Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), Net Cumulative Cash Flow (NCCF), Internal Liquidity Stress Testing (ILST) and other liquidity metrics and present at the ALCO Committee.
+ Manage, monitor and set the Bank's liquidity buffer on a quarterly basis to ensure the Bank holds the appropriate amount and composition of high-quality liquid assets to satisfy both internal and external liquidity requirements on an on-going basis.
+ Manage and maintain the Bank's Contingency Funding Plan (CFP), Early Warning Indicator framework, coordination of CFP live testing, monitoring of contingent funding sources, and provide for timely escalation of early warning triggers and liquidity stress events.
+ Support the Bank's Sale-of-Receivables (SOR) funding program and ensure the proper execution of sale transactions, governance and reporting.
+ Perform monthly and quarterly analyses and reporting on interest rate gap, net interest income (NII) sensitivity, Earnings-at-Risk (EAR), Economic Value Exposure (EVE) and other ALM metrics and related stress testing.
+ Enable business initiatives by ensuring the Bank's funding, liquidity and ALM data and reporting needs are met and assist in the identification balance sheet risk in current and new products and services; represent Treasury on business projects in a consultative/advisory role.
+ Interpret regulatory guidance and manage the ongoing evolution and maintenance of the Bank's funding, liquidity and ALM risk management frameworks and processes to ensure continued compliance with relevant rules and regulations.
+ Recommend and implement strategies to efficiently manage the Bank's liquidity and IRRBB.
+ Perform periodic analyses and reviews of assumptions, methodologies, limit setting, and processes for ALM and liquidity risk metrics; perform related annual policy reviews.
+ Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for ALM, funding and liquidity risk management including frameworks and detailed procedures.
+ Respond to changes in the external regulatory environment, lead highly controlled execution of regulatory processes and fully responsive exam support.
+ Operate with a strong risk mindset to ensure that the bank operates in a safe, sound and fully compliant matter within applicable regulatory and risk expectations.
+ Provide value added support to OSFI, CDIC annual reviews, internal / external corporate audits, other regulatory requirements; compliance processes including BCP, BIA, RCSA, Risk and Control requirements.
+ Work closely with Global Treasury teams to support local requirements.
+ Cross train on certain other Treasury monthly responsibilities for coverage purposes and provide value added analysis on ad-hoc projects as required.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ University degree / equivalent professional certification with 5 years progressive Treasury experience in a regulated banking environment.
+ CFA or MBA preferred.
+ Strong knowledge / understanding of banking, liquidity risk management, stress testing, balance sheet (ALM) and financial risk management.
+ Knowledge of global economic and market environments and their effects on the banking industry.
+ Knowledge and experience in control & process management - design, implementation and execution of regulatory related processes.
+ Project and process management skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
+ Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and ability to present findings clearly and in a compelling manner to senior leaders.
+ Strong forecasting / analytical / modeling skills.
+ Advanced proficiency in Excel essential; experience in data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau and Cornerstone would be considered an asset.
+ Experience at problem solving; able to come to conclusions and make recommendations in complex situations.
+ Able to think strategically.
+ Enjoys working in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
+ Well developed networking skills; with a positive committed attitude. Able to add value quickly in a dynamic environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Analyst, Treasury is responsible for day-to-day cash and liquidity management of the Company. The analyst assists the Manager, Treasury and VP, Treasury with ensuring that the Companys ongoing business activities are adequately funded. This includes deposit funding, securitization activities and various Capital Market initiatives. In addition, the Analyst is responsible for ensuring compliance with legislative/regulatory requirements applicable to Treasury, developing and documenting appropriate compliance controls, and maintaining knowledge of compliance requirements of the business unit. The Analyst is responsible for various management and ad hoc reporting on a timely basis.
In addition:
- Assist with daily cash management activities, including projecting daily cash requirements, executing trades,monitoring market risk exposures and limits
- Enhance portfolio yield by investing excess cash in ALCO approved money market instruments
- Ensure trades/investments are booked and investigate any settlement issues
- Forecast future funding requirements and recommend appropriate funding strategies to the VP, Treasury
- Measure company-wide liquidity risk using approved internal models
- Ensure that the company maintains adequate liquidity at all times, and recommend appropriate corrective action if necessary
- Provide risk governance by reviewing key assumptions, backtesting model results, etc
- Perform liquidity stress testing
- Ensure all relevant Treasury activities are communicated to Market Risk
- Monitor and report Treasurys Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and Key Risk Indicator (KRI) to the internalrisk group
- Track, measure and report Treasurys Operational Risk and escalate any Operational Risk Events to Riskgroup
- Develop and document appropriate Compliance controls and maintain knowledge of Compliance
- requirements for Treasury
- Monitor internal audit findings & recommendations and work closely with team members to resolve any
- outstanding findings
- Generate various reports that assists in managing business within internal policy framework
- Provide guidance or support to other internal groups in developing reports impacting Treasury

Job DescriptionAre you a seasoned finance professional with strong expertise in cash management and corporate financing? Are you seeking a strategic role where you can leverage your analytical skills and rigour while having a direct impact on the company’s financial health?
We are looking for a Treasury Director to lead our cash flow forecasting, optimize liquidity management, and maintain trusted relationships with our financial partners. Reporting directly to the VP, Finance, this key role serves as the internal reference for all matters related to corporate treasury in a dynamic, high-performance environment.
What you will accomplish with us
Forecasting & Liquidity
- Develop and automate a cash forecasting process with improved accuracy for short-, medium-, and long-term.
- Produce daily cash position reports and optimize the use of credit facilities to ensure liquidity availability.
Payments & Working Capital
- Oversee the payment calendar, approval matrix, and controls.
- Standardize EFT/ACH cycles and reduce delays, fees, and fraud risks.
- Optimize cash inflow and outflow operations.
Financing
- Manage banking relationships: terms, fees, services, KYC, signatory matrix, account opening/closing cycles.
- Administer existing facilities and prepare analyses for refinancing or additional facilities as needed.
Compliance & Reporting
- Calculate and monitor financial ratios monthly to ensure compliance with covenants.
- Produce compliance certificates and recommend actions to preserve financial flexibility.
Market Risk (Currency Conversion & Interest Rates)
- Define and execute a hedging strategy (natural, forwards/swaps) based on exposure to 6+ currencies.
Governance & Controls
- Draft, implement, and maintain treasury policies: investments, hedging, bank account management, controls, and fraud/cyberpayment prevention.
Data, Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Leverage Microsoft Dynamics GP, banking portals, Excel, and Power BI to build robust dashboards.
- Assess banking connectivity (statements, payments) and the TMS roadmap: lead business cases and recommendations.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
- Professional designation CPA, CFA, and/or CTP required.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in treasury management, financial planning, or corporate finance in a complex corporate environment.
- Proven experience managing treasury in a multi-subsidiary, multi-currency corporate setting.
- Excellent understanding of banking products and treasury instruments.
- Strong analytical skills, rigour, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with technology tools (advanced Excel, ERP systems, financial modelling tools).
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
