The Foreman plays a key role in ensuring company delivers a high quality product to its customers. He/she performs the tasks listed below:
- Review work orders and assign jobs to employees on the shop floor, as required
- Supervise, direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of parts, such as General Workers, Platers, Painters, and Polishers, as appropriate
- Have in-depth knowledge of company policies and procedures and ensure practices and procedures are followed
- Confer with VP Operations or President and shop floor employees to resolve production problems
- Ensure employees on shop floor follow safety and environmental regulations and enforce these regulations, as appropriate and required
- Inspect materials, parts, or equipment to detect defects and ensure finished parts meet company standards
- Confer with other Foremen to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments, as required
- Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality, or efficiency.
- Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, as appropriate and required
- Read and analyze drawings, purchase/work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals
- Keep Human Resources Clerk apprised of requests for vacation time, time off and sick days of employees on the shop floor
- Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
