The Human Resources Generalist will support our Canadian business entity and have oversight for our Mexican business entity. This position supports the administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: interviewing, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, training and development, benefits and compensation.
Position can be based in Canada (Mississauga or Ottawa) or the United States (Alpharetta, GA).
**Responsibilities**
+ Ability to answer employee questions and or concerns regarding Human Resource policy, procedures, standards or employee handbook interpretations and escalates to Human Resources Director as needed.
+ Assists Managers and/or Supervisors with employee inquiries, performance review process, coaching, counseling, and terminations.
+ Provide support to improve employee engagement and employee relations in order to retain talent through proactive programs, including leadership development and training, supervisory and management training and stimulate employee involvement in all areas.
+ Assists with maintaining compliance with federal, state, local and provincial employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
+ Ensures HRIS is being updated and used accordingly.
+ Helps to identify key data sources and utilizes data-driven insights about important departmental metrics to improve business decisions.
+ Partners with Talent Acquisition Specialist for recruiting, interviewing, and screening employee candidates.
+ Manages the new hire process inclusive of orientations and corporate guided onboarding processes.
+ Provide support for performance management and merit planning processes for respective areas.
+ Partners with Compensation for benchmarking roles.
+ Leads and/or supports HR Projects as per business need
+ Performs other duties and responsibilities as per business need
**Qualifications**
Education, Experience, Skills Required:
+ Bachelor of Science in Business Management or Human Resource Management preferred; minimum of 5 years experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
+ Knowledge and experience in Canadian labor and employment law
+ Experience supporting multi-site and/or remote employees across Canadian provinces preferred.
+ Excellent communication skills both verbal and written form.
+ Has a "can do" attitude and a positive outlook, while minimizing negative behaviors. Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness as a self-starter.
+ Employs effective time management skills and meets deadlines. Manages multiple assignments simultaneously and has strong organizational skills. Demonstrates a strong attention to detail.
+ Computer/ Database skills.
+ Bilingual with Spanish a plus

+ General office equipment, PC w/ various software to include MS Office or Gmail.
Physical Requirements:
+ Sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting as necessary.

**Position Summary:**
The HR Generalist will proactively support the day-to-day human resources functions for IDEX MPT. This role will serve as a key liaison for the Production team and is responsible for a wide range of HR activities including recruitment, employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, performance management, compliance training, and HRIS maintenance. The HR Generalist will act as a key resource for employees and leaders, ensuring HR practices align with organizational goals and applicable legislation.

**Essential Functions:**
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
**Production Support**
+ Serve as the primary HR contact with our Production teams advising on workforce planning, organizational priorities and operational challenges
+ Responsible for supporting talent development and leadership coaching and support for the Production teams
+ Support strategic initiatives and leadership development across our Production teams.
**Employee Relations**
+ Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies to attract top talent
+ Manage full-cycle recruitment for assigned roles, including job postings, interviews, offers and onboarding
+ Own the requisition submission process and follow-up with recruiting and hiring managers on approvals and tracking
+ Work with department leaders to design thorough onboarding plans
**Training & Development**
+ Coordinate and assist with training programs for safety, compliance, IT and skill development
+ Support succession planning initiatives to ensure a pipeline of talent for key positions
**Payroll/Benefit Administration**
+ Administer payroll processes accurately and on time; ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
+ Assist with benefit enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries; liaise with benefit providers as needed.
**Performance Management**
+ Coordinate and ensure completion of performance reviews by all leaders and prepare HR metrics/reports.
+ Guide leaders on performance related and attendance related issues
**Employee Engagement**
+ Engagement survey administration and action planning
+ Work with departmental leaders on the development and implementation of action plans
**Diversity & Inclusion** : Contribute to D&I initiatives and activities.
**Data Analysis and Reporting**
+ Utilize HR metrics and analytics to drive decision-making and identify trends related to employee engagement, turnover and performance.
**Education and/or Experience:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
+ Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in an HR role within a manufacturing environment
+ CHRP designation (or working towards) is an asset.
**Qualifications:**
+ Strong knowledge of HR practices and employment legislation in Ontario.
+ Experience with payroll processing and HRIS systems (ADP and/or Workday preferred).
+ Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

The Role
We are seeking a Regular Full-Time, Human Resources Generalist, Wellness (FTE 1.0). Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist provides support to functional areas for the HR department. This includes but not limited to, the administration of EFW’s wellness and abilities management programs by supporting the organization with workplace accommodations, safe and early return to work, attendance management and the coordination of ongoing disability files. The Human Resources Generalist also provides leadership, advice, and support to the development of wellness programs that support the holistic health and wellbeing of employees, and promote a positive workplace experience.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Builds strong working relationships with supervisors, managers, and employees
- Acts as a point of contact in Human Resources to address HR policy and process questions from employees
- Collaborates on special projects by researching, developing and organizing information as required
- Undertakes research to develop new HR programs and policies
- Assists with the development and maintenance of HR and organization policies and procedures and other documentation
- Administration of multiple HR email accounts and assists with HR administrative duties as requested
- Provides back-up and support to other HR team members as required
- Undertakes other related duties as assigned
The HR Generalist will be assigned to a combination of the following functional areas. Functional areas may be re-assigned from time to time to support HR team members and the operational requirements of the HR department.·
- Supports EFW’s employee wellness and abilities management program, including but not limited to:
- Manages EFW’s ability management program including modified duties and workplace accommodations; medical leaves of absence and fitness for work and maintains appropriate documentation;
- Acts as a first point of contact in human resources to address workplace accommodation and ability management related questions and concerns from employees, leaders; and 3rd party providers
- Maintains appropriate case management documentation and file management for disability related leaves;
- Notifies and coordinates with leaders, payroll, insurers, and all affected stakeholders on employee return to work plans and timelines
- Coordinates other types of leaves of absence
- Supports EFW’s occupational health and safety programs and policies, including maintaining and analyzing incident report tracking, and WHMIS program
- Develops, coordinates and supports new wellness initiatives
- Provides support to EFW's employee recognition and appreciation programs

You have the following
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management; or a business-related field is required;
- Minimum 3 years' experience relating to both psychological and physical health promotion, and progressive experience in disability case management and workplace accommodation. Experience working in the healthcare sector is an asset
- Certified Disability Management Professional, Certified Return to Work Coordinator, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards legislation, Alberta Human Rights Act, Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) as well as familiarity with the Alberta Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and human resources principles and practices;
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge and understanding of disability management principles and best practices.
- Have or working towards CPHR designation would be an asset
- High level of integrity with the ability to keep confidential information secure
- Ability to build strong relationships, coach/consult, and mediate conflict
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative HR Generalist to join our Human Resources Operations team at our St. Thomas, Ontario plant. This is a fully in office, hands-on role within a dynamic manufacturing environment where you will have the opportunity to develop broad HR expertise while contributing directly to the success of the business and our employees. Occasional travel to sites within the business unit is required.
SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist collaborates closely with plant leadership, Canadian HR team and HR COE’s to develop and drive strategic and operational human resources programs and initiatives.
Responsibilities include employee relations, workforce planning, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, employee retention, coaching and development, compliance, conflict management, administrative support, project management and ad hoc initiatives. This role will support onboarding and offboarding, serve as the HR systems and process owner and provide day-to-day HR support to employees and leaders, in partnership with the broader Human Resources team. Occasional travel to sites within the business unit is required.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Relations
- Provide day-to-day HR support and services to leaders and employees, ensuring responsive, consistent, and reliable HR guidance
- Walk the shop floor daily to build relationships, monitor engagement and ensure HR support is accessible to all plant staff
- Participate in and/or lead employee relations investigations in partnership with the Human Resources Manager
- Collaborate with leaders in delivering and tracking all counseling and disciplinary actions to ensure fairness, consistency and adherence to company policies and employment legislation
- Support and participate in Company action planning initiatives to improve employee engagement and enhance retention
- Act as the Program Lead for the Connecting Communities Committee, plan and execute events in partnership with committee members and local organizations to support the Company’s goal of being an active and valued community partner
Benefits Administration and Leave Management
- Administer employee benefits program, including enrollments, updating member/dependent information, eligibility tracking, resolving employee claim issues through escalation when required
- Act as first point of contact for leave of absences, maintaining regular follow-ups with employees, and facilitating return to work plans
- Liaise with insurance provider regarding employee eligibility for disability leave, ensuring timely and accurate claims submission and management
- Be a key driver in streamlining benefits administration processes and advancing the shift to electronic management to improve efficiency and the employee experience
Payroll and HRIS
- Work closely with payroll and plant leaders to ensure smooth and accurate processing of biweekly payroll
- Own and process all HRIS transactions, collaborate with key stakeholders to troubleshoot challenges and drive process improvements
- Utilize reporting and HR dashboards to analyze workforce data and trends and provide insights to support proactive planning and decision-making
- Ensure human resources and personnel records are maintained in compliance with company policies and legislative requirements
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Collaborate with plant leadership and talent acquisition to assess manpower needs and coordinating effective recruiting efforts for the plant
- Support the delivery of new hire orientation, facilitating sessions for key roles, and ensuring all employees receive a welcoming and exceptional induction experience
- Own the company’s internship program in partnership with local universities and the operations team
- Support employee career progression by driving the plant’s internal job posting program, partner with plant leaders in assessing candidate suitability, and drive a culture of promoting from within
Training and Development
- Drive the organization’s annual compliance training program, plan and facilitate group training sessions for plant staff, track and monitor completion
- Assist with planning and delivery of leadership development workshops
- Help strengthen workforce capability by identifying training needs, addressing skill gaps, and supporting succession planning efforts
- Bachelor’s degree or Post-Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management
- CHRP certification or working toward designation is preferred
- 1 to 3 years of experience in Human Resources
- Experience in manufacturing industry is strongly preferred
- Prior experience or exposure to HRIS systems and payroll procedures (Dayforce knowledge is a strong asset)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams) is required
- Collaborative team player with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
- Results-driven, with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and decision-making
- Thrives in dynamic, seasonal environments with the ability to step outside of comfort zones and adapt quickly to changing workforce needs
