This position reports to the Director, IT Application Solutions and Development and joins the Product Management Team comprising Product Implementation Managers, Solution Architects, and Functional Analysts. Functional Analysts are primarily responsible for translating business requirements into technical implementations in collaboration with IT and project teams, and for supporting the business areas in the implementation and operational use of IT business applications. The scope of support will extend to Finance, Membership, Licensing, and Royalty Services and Operations. This role utilizes consulting, business knowledge, and functional expertise to effectively integrate technology into the business environment to achieve expected results.
WHAT YOU’LL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Business Initiative Planning and Strategy: Understand business strategy and objectives to a degree where documentation can be created for IT deliverables (e.g., application roadmaps, functional specifications).
- Project Execution and Operational Support: Act as liaison with business to troubleshoot, investigate, and solve software problems, and design/configure necessary product modifications to satisfy customer requirements.
- Provide consulting services with a focus on business areas and processes and the software applications used by those areas.
- Prepare deliverables to support the development and deployment of a technical solution (e.g., functional specifications and configuration/customization guides).
- Identify, define, and model application requirements for packaged applications and custom components.
- Participate in design and configuration of applications supported by the IT application solutions team.
- Work with Application Developers to provide orientation and information on the functional aspects of the solution.
- Analyze business unit processes, challenges, and situations to recommend or create solutions.
- Assist with identifying testing scenarios, requirements traceability, and master data setup in preparation for testing.
- Conduct validation testing for application functionality and traceability to requirements.
- Provide functional guidance and support to QA testers for testing and defect management.
- Provide guidance and expertise for application implementation and post-implementation user support.
- Ensure procedures remain accurate and consistent after implementation; propose enhancements as needed.
- Share knowledge of functional design best practices and apply to project management methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
- At least 3–5 years of experience in a senior functional role
- Strong background in Microsoft Azure and DataBricks development technologies
- Business knowledge with a focus on financial applications and processes
- Understanding of master data management, data integration, security concepts and management of security vulnerabilities
- Knowledge of good documentation practices; capable of adopting and learning new tools and approaches
- Configuration experience with an ERP application is an asset
- Experience leveraging Microsoft and productivity tools (e.g., Project Server, JIRA)
- Development background with SQL (MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL) preferred
- Technical background with MS .Net, C#, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, REST APIs, message queues, API gateways, Angular/Node JS, and Microsoft technologies including SharePoint, Project Server, Power BI, Azure DevOps
- Ability to analyze problems and provide clear recommendations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Collaborative experience with IT and business teams across multiple products and systems
- Awareness of cultural differences and sensitivity
