**Summary**
Under close supervision, the Lube Tech( Technician I ) performs minor routine maintenance and repair services on different types of vehicles. Works with the assistance of a T2, T3, T4, TIC SS or SM, when performing technical and diagnostic type repairs. Task assignments are directed by shop management to encourage development in a productive manner.
**Essential Functions**
+ Performs basic vehicle maintenance. Perform component identification and minor repairs. Perform preventive maintenance with training and support. Diagnose minor mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable. Identifies root cause of "minor" failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
+ Performs facility maintenance duties
+ Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
+ Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
+ Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT,MOT)

**Major Responsibilities:**
- Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services
- Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order
- Maintain work area appearance and safety
- Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
- Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Adjust and replace brake, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
- Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
- Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
- Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
- Specialize in repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmissions and differentials, to include replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components etc.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
**Qualifications:**
- 5+ years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required
- Must possess respective Provincial License such as Red Seal/310T
- Must maintain membership/registration with respective Government Agencies
- Current driver's license class D or class 3 with air brake certification required or ability to obtain it within 6 months of being hired
- Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools) required
- Basic computer skills required
- Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions required
- Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses preferred
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

+ Diagnose and perform accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair under minimal supervision. Repairs include brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission and other repairs.
+ Removal and reinstalment of mechanical components with minimal supervision.
+ Participate in 90-day preventative maintenance inspection program, safety inspections and annual maintenance inspections.
+ Issue semiannual and annual MTO certificates using Drive On program
+ Ensure work orders are completed properly and accurately using individual tablets. Maintain records of all maintenance work completed including parts and supplies used.
+ Evaluate completed work and seek approval where required.
+ Occasionally engage in road calls and emergency services as necessary.
+ Adhere to First Student standards, policies, and procedures.
+ Perform other maintenance responsibilities as requested or required.
+ Willingness to participate in ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses provided!
**Qualifications:**
+ Must have 310T Mechanic license
+ Valid driver's license required.
