  • Valid driver's abstract

  • Basic computer skills & proficient smartphone use

  • A proactive self-starter with strong communication and problem-solving skills and work ethic

Nice to Haves:

+ Maintain and repair heavy equipment and machinery.

**Essential Skills**
+ Proficiency in mechanics, hydraulics, and repair work.
+ Experience in assembly, particularly within mobile oilfield, mining, agriculture, or heavy industry.
+ Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician certification.
+ Knowledge of heavy equipment manufacturing, electrical systems, and fabrication.
+ Troubleshooting skills.
**Work Environment**
The standard shift is Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with opportunities for overtime after 40 hours per week, including optional Saturday shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret detailed drawings, assembly procedures, routing cards, schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Assembly of transducer products and systems including mechanical assembly, bonded assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, encapsulation and modification of components using workshop tooling.
  • Conduct Product Tests such as Hydrostatic pressure testing, receive inspection of complex machined components, load testing, environmental testing and electro-acoustic test and characterization while using a variety of test devices and methods.
  • Complete and maintain detailed product build and test documentation, assess product compliance to established quality standards, and sign-off of key build stages.
  • Contribute to refinement of product design, build documentation and processes through record of changes and red-lines for review during product assembly.
  • Working as part of a skilled interdisciplinary team to resolve production and assembly issues while working with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams.
  • Prepare materials for assembly using solvent cleaning and abrasive surface preparation.
  • Use various chemicals, adhesives, and compounds to encapsulate and bond parts.
  • Record actions taken by completing production and quality forms in accordance with ISO9001 requirements.
  • Identify products or parts that do not meet quality standards and follow quarantine procedures as required.
  • Maintain a clean, hazard free workstation by cleaning and maintain equipment, tidying production floor and complying with health and safety procedures, rules and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Formal Technician or Technology training from a recognized college or university.
  • Prior experience working with equipment for underwater use including electro-mechanical devices
  • Experience in the assembly of complex mechanical systems and components, test engineering, bonded assembly or encapsulation considered an asset.
  • Proficient computer literacy suitable for update and release of documents and referencing technical documentation.
  • Strong reading comprehension, writing and documentation skills.
  • Experience, or willingness to learn, engineering documentation.
  • Solution-oriented and can identify and solve problems.
  • Occupational Health and Safety and WHMIS certification (or ability to successfully obtain)

  • As an Electro-Mechanical Technician, you'll work closely with the maintenance and production team to assemble various components as well as perform all electrical and mechanical installations to complete the assembly of the train.
  • While interacting daily with co-workers, quality inspectors, team leaders, supervisors, and managers, all activities will be performed according to EHSS procedures and rules in place.
  • Respecting and enforcing client EHSS policies and rules.
  • Installing and assembling railway vehicle (car body shell) components using standard work procedures and hand and power tools.
  • Performing basic testing, support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems and components.
  • Completing self-inspection on installations/repairs to ensure quality and compliance.
  • To provide technical leadership and make recommendations on appropriate preventative and corrective actions
  • To cross-reference technical documents and highlight any discrepancies
  • To work closely with support functions to identify and propose suggestions for continuous improvement

Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical and electrical work, such as gluing, fitting, crimping, soldering cabling, drilling, as well as using test equipment such as multimeters

What will you be doing?

As the Electro-Mechanical Technician will be responsible and accountable for the manufacture and repair of electro-mechanical assemblies.

  • Build electro-mechanical assemblies with high levels of quality.
  • Ensuring soldering and electrical looming is carried out to a high standard.
  • Manufacture of cable assemblies and electrical installation of wiring looms
  • Reading and interpreting electrical/mechanical drawings, general assembly instructions schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans.
  • Documentation (BOMs, and drawings and electrical schematics).
  • Support engineering activities such as design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems
  • Verify adherence to specifications and requirements with in-process and final inspection.

What do we need from you?

  • Experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Highly proficient with hand soldering, crimping and jointing skills.
  • Previously certified to IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 would be preferred.
  • Ability to read Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) would be an asset.
  • Experience with JIRA software is considered beneficial.
  • Experience working with AS9100D or ISO/TS 16949 quality systems is considered an asset.
