Role Description
- Deep understanding and strong focus on Risk and Finance Governance Process and Framework, such as Data Lineage, Data Quality, regulatory reporting such as OSFI, FR2052A
The data governance team ensures the bank's data is managed as a strategic asset by establishing and enforcing standards, and procedures for data quality, security, and accessibility. Their responsibilities include defining critical data elements and ownership, supporting data management processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, monitoring data quality, resolving issues, and driving organizational change to improve data usage and value
Required Skill Sets:
- Experience in financial services, data governance, and regulatory reporting.
- Skill in translating business needs into technical requirements and delivering compliant, high-quality solutions in both Agile and Waterfall environments.
- Experience in Enterprise Data Lifecycle Management (EDLM), data quality frameworks, critical data elements, and regulatory compliance reporting.
- Adept at stakeholder engagement, API integrations, system migrations, and process optimization with a proven ability to bridge business and technical teams.
- Identify and analyze data-related risks in data ingestion, transformation, and consumption processes.
- Assess existing manual and automated controls that prevent or detect risks.
- Apply risk management policies and frameworks to ensure compliance.
Data Governance & Quality:
- Develop and implement data governance strategies and frameworks to support business objectives.
- Monitor and ensure high data quality across various financial and risk-related databases.
- Collaborate with data stewards and owners to align data governance with business goals.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
- Gather requirements and facilitate workshops with stakeholders from risk, finance, and IT departments.
- Bridge the communication gap between business needs and technical solutions related to data.
- Present findings, recommendations, and complex information clearly to all levels of stakeholders.
Business Requirements & Solution Design:
- Translate business needs into functional and data specifications.
- Contribute to the development and modification of software applications to meet specific needs of the credit or risk areas.
- Support project delivery by participating in testing, validation, and change management activities.
Technical & Analytical Skills:
- Utilize data analysis tools such as SQL, Excel, and Python to analyze large datasets and identify data patterns.
- Work with data governance platforms and risk management systems.
- Understand regulatory frameworks like BCBS 239 and Basel III, and financial products.
Desired Skill Sets:
- Strong analytical skills are vital for identifying data patterns, understanding root causes of data issues, and developing solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed to clearly articulate findings, data quality rules, and project requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- The ability to work effectively with various teams and stakeholders is necessary to gather requirements and implement improvements.

Skills and Requirements
* MBA or Masters in Finance or similar
