Position Summary

The Role
- Preparing monthly reports that summarize the company’s business activity and financial position in areas of income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, expenses, and earnings.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Investigation and commentary on variances to budget and prior periods.
- Work with the accounting team to review & maintain consistency in accounting policies and practices across the organization.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring professional development and performance.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings (sales tax).
- Manage the year-end audit and prepare supporting schedules.
- Calculation of monthly commissions/bonuses for selected staff and determine accruals.
- Oversee government compliance filings and reporting as required.
- Manage job costing and profitability reporting and recognition.
- Oversee monthly review and reconciliation of service WIP.
- Ensure internal controls over financial reporting and assets are in place and maintained.
- Manage year-end inventory counts including financial variance adjustments.
- Identify and take advantage of cost-saving opportunities.
- Work closely with other business unit leaders.
- Work with IT to develop financial and business reports as required.
- Look for operational efficiencies and have a mindset of continuous improvement.
- Other projects as assigned.
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be required from time to time consistent with the growth and development of the Company and the position of Controller.
- Responsible for integrating new companies into the reporting system.
- Integrating newly acquired companies' accounting operations into the TPL Group's process.

- Timeliness and accuracy of month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Compliance with ASPE and GAAP standards.

What You Need:
- University degree and Canadian or American accounting designation (CPA).
- 4 years of management experience.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE and US GAAP.
- Experience in financial statement consolidation.
- Management accounting skills are critical for accurate reporting of department and branch P&L.
- The ability to work with others in the Company as a team, always putting the customer (external and internal) first.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while adhering to deadlines.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel.
- In the case of a power outage or declared State of Emergency by any level of Government in Ontario, be available for work.
- Act in a strong, professional manner always maintaining the highest of ethical standards with Company employees, customers, and suppliers.
