- Adapt approach to lesson delivery to address issues and support student success and retention.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Music (completed or in progress), with at least 1 year of teaching experience

JOB SUMMARY
The Uummarmiutun Teacher plays a key role in preserving and revitalizing the Uummarmiutun language as part of the Inuvialuit five-year language plan.
Reporting to the capacity manager, the teacher will be responsible for teaching Uummarmiutun to students, helping to ensure the language's survival and growth in the community. Uummarmiutun is a vital part of Inuvialuit culture and heritage. Its preservation is essential in maintaining the linguistic diversity of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR).
We are looking for two teachers for a one-year term position , with a possibility of extension. Ideal candidates will have experience in linguistics or education, be proficient in Uummarmiutun and have a background in curriculum development
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be/have:
- Have a bachelors degree in education or a related field, or equivalent experience in teaching Indigenous languages.
- Hold or be eligible for a N.W.T. Professional Teaching Certificate (CertifiED NWT) or a Language Specialist Certificate.
- Be proficient in Uummarmiutun and understand its cultural significance.
- Have experience in curriculum development and classroom management.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be passionate about language preservation and cultural education.
- Be familiar with Inuvialuit culture and traditions.

- Complete administrative duties on time, including responding to emails within a 24-hour window, completing all student information, streaming notes, attendance etc. as required.
- Translate customer questions, issues and concerns into positive experiences and resolutions for customers. Proactively follow up with customers if any student progress issues are identified through lessons in order to address them immediately.
- Adapt approach to lesson delivery to address issues and support student success and retention.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Music (completed or in progress), with at least 1 year of teaching experience
- High performance standard
- Written theory knowledge
- Ability to translate complex musical concepts to easy and accessible instruction for students
- Proven supportive administrative task completion
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
