As a Loss Prevention Officer with Securiguard, you'll be more than just a security presence-you'll be a frontline ambassador of safety and trust in the retail environment. What you would do:
- Monitoring for suspicious behavior through both mobile and static surveillance to prevent theft and other security risks.
- Apprehending and safely detaining shoplifters when necessary, including making arrests where required, in accordance with legal and company protocols.
- Completing thorough and accurate incident reports at the end of each shift.
- Maintaining a visible security presence across multiple store locations, depending on operational needs.
- Collaborating with fellow officers and store staff, while also being comfortable working independently.
- Managing difficult or high-stress situations with professionalism and a calm, steady approach.
- Standing and remaining attentive during shifts of up to 8 hours.
Job Requirements
- Valid BC Security Worker License
- Advanced Security Training preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of security industry experience
- Minimum of 6 months of loss prevention experience
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA Level 1) or equivalent
- Must be flexible to work in multiple stores/locations
- Must be able to stand for an 8-hour period

Loss Prevention Physical Security Specialist
The Loss Prevention Physical Security Specialist is member of the Loss Prevention Asset Protection team providing technical expertise, technical project fulfillment, and administration and technical services on Loss Prevention systems such as physical security hardware, keys and tokens, locking systems, access control, protection devices, and tactical merchandising supplies, as well as traditional security alarm systems.
The Loss Prevention Physical Security Specialists will work within our locksmith shop, fulfilling customer requests and ensuring timely delivery of security tools and supplies to our customers.
The Loss Prevention Physical Security Technical Specialist will provide support for internal stakeholder groups who use our Loss Prevention systems, security devices and product protection options. In addition, the LP Physical Security Specialist will fulfill or assign requests to vendors for changes and adjustments to access.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Protect all company assets and reduce losses.
- Conduct pinning and servicing of locks and cutting of keys (in workshop or on-site).
- Maintain key records, key controls, system logs, and system records.
- Maintain, prepare, deploy physical security devices and hardware such as keys, display security devices, locks, cash boxes, security signage, and other loss prevention tools.
- Administer access credentials and maintain loss prevention systems.
- Process access control and access request.
- Process internal security clearances.
- Monitor and order LP hardware and workshop supplies.
- Recommend security solutions to reduce risk and loss.
- Develop training materials to assist in the development of end user skills, provide support to department training efforts as required.
- Participate in vendor relationships related to utilization of equipment, tools, and services.
- Maintain Loss Prevention Systems logs and records, ensuring all reports and files meet company standard.
- Monitor the use of systems to ensure policies and procedures are followed and report on any deficiencies.
- Maintain a good working relationship with all store management and staff
- Develop technology solutions to security challenges, including product protection, and make recommendations for new Loss Prevention systems.
- Work with the Asset Protection security design team on store development projects to plan a facility security strategy and design Loss Prevention systems to protect those facilities.
- Provide guidance and support to stakeholders integrating with Loss Prevention Systems on approved projects.
- Attend store locations to conduct site inspections of systems under development, and established systems for proper functioning.
- Detect, assess, and develop plans to address systems failures or maintenance issues.
- Support security systems and programs for other company business units, company facilities, and high value assets, as part of the Corporate Security Team.
- Represent company loss prevention objectives during projects and interdepartmental meetings.
- Carry communication tools (mobile phone, pager) and respond to after-hours emergencies, and alarm calls as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of any issues related to the company or loss prevention department.
- Will travel to any company location or on behalf of company to industry events when required.
- Will be available to communicate with the LP team, Executive team, and authorities outside of scheduled hours as needed.

- Security related education (Security Management) or recognized professional accreditation preferred.
- Industry training or professional certification an asset (i.e., locksmith, alarm installer, PSP, LPQ).
- Provincial security worker license, with locking or security systems installer, locksmith or locksmith under supervision will be required.
- Formal locksmithing and security systems technical, electronic systems related post-secondary education or a combination of education and experience that yields the required knowledge, strengths and skills.
- Trade qualification (i.e.: Low voltage, Alarm Installations, etc.) is an asset.
- Experience in developing evidence-based security recommendations and the follow up implementation of Loss Prevention Systems.
- Training in security design and crime prevention principles (i.e.: CPTED, Protection in Depth, etc.)
- Have completed and/or enrolling in London Drugs LP training program.
- First Aid and W.H.I.M.I.S. Training.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.
- Familiarity with access control, alarm monitoring, DVR and NVR software and hardware platforms is an asset.

About the Role
The Loss Prevention Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of the loss prevention team to ensure high standards of operational performance, service delivery, and safety. This includes conducting regular site visits, managing staff performance, supporting scheduling needs, and maintaining effective communication with both clients and internal teams. The Manager plays a critical role in elevating the quality of reporting and documentation, responding to incidents, and occasionally filling in for LPO or Tactical shifts when required. - Conduct regular site visits to ensure compliance, quality, and adherence to protocols
- Oversee and support the performance management of the Loss Prevention team
- Coach and mentor officers to improve incident and daily report writing standards
- Generate and analyze statistical reports related to incidents, trends, and staff performance
- Assist with staff scheduling and shift coverage, including working shifts when needed
- Collaborate with the Client Services Manager to support operational goals and project needs
- Respond to emergencies and support incident investigations as required
- Ensure officers maintain a professional presence and customer service standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Client Services Manager
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Frequency and quality of site visits and audits
- Timely and effective performance reviews and feedback for team members
- Measurable improvement in officer report writing quality
- Timeliness and accuracy of stat/report submissions
- Shift coverage efficiency and scheduling effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid BC Security Worker's License (BST completed)
- Valid AST (Advanced Security Training) Certificate
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with clean driver's abstract and reliable transportation
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the security industry
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Loss Prevention
- At least 1 year of supervisory or management experience, preferably in security or loss prevention settings
- Strong communication, leadership, and report-writing skills
- Proficient in incident reporting systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Customer service experience, particularly in retail or fast food settings, is an asset
- Experience or interest in law enforcement is considered a strong asset
- Basic understanding of retail security features

Overall Position Overview
Reporting to the Store Manager and Area Loss Prevention Manager, the Loss Prevention (LP) Associate is responsible for day-to-day implementation of all Loss Prevention programs and initiatives within their assigned location. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, shortage and safety goals, detection and safe apprehension of shoplifters, recovery of merchandise, auditing, use of LP Technology, and training store personnel on Loss Prevention related topics at their location.
Key Responsibilities
- Implementation and execution of all Loss Prevention initiatives and policies within their assigned location in partnership with Store Management and the Area Loss Prevention Manager, to protect the company’s assets and ensure the safety of all customers and employees.
- Assist Store Manager and Area Loss Prevention Manager with training of store personnel on Loss Prevention policies, procedures, and initiatives.
- Detect and identify shoplifters and safely apprehend subjects or recover merchandise accordance with Federal and Provincial laws, as well as company and department policy. Assist the Area Loss Prevention Manager with detection and investigation of internal theft and policy violation incidents on an ongoing basis. Track internal investigations and external theft incidents within the department’s case management system in a timely manner.
- Implement loss reduction initiatives in partnership with store teams and Loss Prevention senior management. Follow up as necessary on throughout the inventory cycle to ensure compliance and report progress to the Store Manager, Area Loss Prevention Manager, and others as directed.
- Utilize Loss Prevention technology equipment including CCTV, Access Control, EAS, and exception-based reporting systems to identify and act on loss and safety issues within assigned location. Utilize technology including exception-based reporting systems to identify dishonest activity both internally and externally.
- Utilize the store RFID Inventory system and be able to provide training to store team members on an ongoing basis. Correct and resolve operational issues in partnership with the store team, Area Loss Prevention Manager, and the LP Inventory Accuracy team.
- Provide direct support to assigned locations for taking of financial inventory, and RFID based cycle counts as directed.
- Regularly communicate with other LP team members, and support cross-communication between store team members, and other departments to identify common issues.Other duties as required
Desired Skills and Experiences
- Minimum of 5+ year of related experience in Loss Prevention or Asset Protection in a multi-unit capacity
- Full understanding of Canadian federal, provincial and local laws and regulations regarding apprehensions, safety, and all aspects of Loss Prevention
- Being provincially licensed is also the requirement for this role
- Demonstrated experience in Internal Investigation including use of exception reporting systems as well as managing external apprehension programs
- Proven ability to interface with law enforcement and legal professionals on both criminal and civil matters
- Experience with Loss Prevention technology and methods, including CCTV, covert surveillance, EAS, Access Control, and Intrusion Detection systems.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and inventory accuracy principles considered an asset including familiarity with RFID technology
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective time management skills
- Problem-solver and results oriented
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure

The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre (CTCC) hosts conventions, tradeshows, and meetings for national, international, and local groups. We are currently looking to fill two full-time Security Services Agent positions in our Security Services Department.
The mandate of Security Services is to deliver professional and results-oriented security services to the CTCC business units, visitors, and clients, including, but not limited to, life safety and emergency response.
Reporting to the Manager, Security Services and Team Lead, the Security Services Agent is responsible for maintaining the security and safety of people and property within and surrounding the CTCC, +15 connections, and for providing ancillary business and customer services to other staff members, clients, and the public.
Due to the dynamic nature of this position, a high level of critical-thinking skills is required to meet the standards of this position and adequately perform situational risk and event-related assessments, interact with a variety of clientele, and implement sound judgment in situations requiring the use of discretion.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Under guidance and direction from the Manager, Security Services and Team Lead, Security Services, perform security operations for the CTCC while functioning ethically, efficiently, effectively, and with the utmost professionalism.
- Monitor, investigate, patrol, and protect persons and/or property to deter or detect loss for persons, property, or premises under the care and control of the CTCC.
- Perform investigations pertaining to, but not limited to, loss of or damage to property, premises, and/or persons under the care and control of the CTCC.
- While operating within the legal authority and the policies/procedures of the CTCC, conduct searches of the person(s), personal property, or premises for the purpose of protection or loss prevention.
- While operating within the legal authority and the policies/procedures of the CTCC, utilize authorized methods of physical subject control, arrest, and defensive tactics to remove or restrain individuals demonstrating criminal conduct or active damage to property, premises, and/or persons under the care and control of the CTCC.
- Comply with legislation governing security and investigative services as defined in the Security Services and Investigators Act, the Security Services and Investigators Regulations, and the Security Services and Investigators Act Ministerial Regulations, including but not limited to maintaining license status, training qualifications, authorized equipment, reporting requirements, complaint processes and Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrate an understanding of customer requirements and provide outstanding quality of service in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Complete assigned duties in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
- Facilitate response to emergency operations and incident response, including assuming the role of Incident Commander in a traditional Incident Command System setting.
- Establish and maintain relations with external agencies, including neighbouring properties, local law enforcement, and municipal agencies.
- Maintain access control by managing access control systems, including but not limited to creating, issuing, and tracking instruments of access control (cards, locks, keys).
- Coordinate and complete event-related security requests and work orders as required.
- Facilitate and coordinate third-party contracted security services, medical services and pay duty officer requirements as required.
- Monitor alarm systems, access control, and surveillance system.
- Complete and maintain records, logs, reports, inventories, and other documentation in compliance with regulatory authorities and CTCC policies and procedures.
- Acquire and maintain adequate certification or training as required.
- Adhere to CTCC and Occupational Health & Safety regulations and performance standards.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, service providers, employees, and other stakeholders.

Requirements
To be considered for the listed position of Security Services Agent, all applicants must:
- Be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Be flexible to work a rotational shift under an Averaging Arrangement - including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Possess and maintain a valid Government of Alberta Security Services license with no restrictions defined by the Security Services and Investigators Act & Regulations.
- Possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a security and incident-response-related field.
- Possess and maintain training requirements including, but not limited to, the following:
- First Aid (Standard Level C with AED or equivalent).
- Alberta Basic Security Training or equivalent.
- Maintain a strong sense of personal integrity, confidentiality, and a consistent work ethic.

Physical Requirements
- Standing on feet for long periods of time.
- Physically fit to have the ability to lift heavy weight, walk in excess of 10 KM per shift, execute subject control, and execute defensive tactics.
- Comfortable working at heights.
- To be able to monitor video monitors and perform computer-related tasks.
- To be able to discern colours.
